August 24, 200421 yr This aircraft along with Mr. Marciano's gracious panel gives somewhat of a challange for a freeware offereing. Not quite all the bells and whistles of the PSS panel, but dandy for freeware IMHO.The only dingy thing I have found on the panel is the EGT reads high in the red all of the time with the exception of at idle throttle settings. I tried this with other panels just to see what would happen too. Same thing so I don't think it has anything to do with the panel. To me, the dynamics of the plane are a bit like the first Kittyhawk config and air files. Under manual control on final with no wind, she tends to skid badly in making corrections. As long as everything is lined up perfectly this is academic but I expect her to be a bear in a bad crosswind manual approach. A little tweaking may solve this.It took a while to figure out the procedure for setting up an ILS approach. The heading selection must be in the managed postition, although you still can control the heading manually if necessary. Otherwise I got no glideslope indication. If I am interpretting correctly, I had to also follow an old procedure for others which is a good idea anyway on all approaches. Until the glideslope becomes alive (Vertical bug starts to move to the center) leave your setting on the localizer, then activate approach. When I tried to activate approach before the needle was active, the aircraft tried to kick up and search for the glideslope above my present position (below glideslope). Once the vertical needle started movement, I was able to activate glideslope (Appr) and she was stable as a rock and intercepted the glideslope perfectly. The only thing that I have not figured out yet (probably a big lie) is how to get autotune to work. I set up a flight into 1L at KIAD (with STAR waypoints/fixes) and she tracked on managed autopilotsettings perfectly for the entire flight turning onto final, but I never had autotune pick up the localizer frequency. I had to do that manually (so far). If someone knows the secret to this, please share it. I had the blue autotune text in the FMC as the manual instructs. If you are into autoland, this offering is a fine piece of work, in fact the best I have seen on any plane freeware or payware. It does everything perfectly except for taxiing to the gate and shutting her down.My understanding is that there is an Aerodesign forum, but I don't know where it is and hope it is ok to share these observations here. If some kind soul can point me in that direction, I will copy to their forum.Hope something here is useful to somebody.Happy flyingRTHOne more thing in this edit: It would be nice to be able to stop her from calling out "Traffic, Traffic, Traffic" repeatedly when so notified. I wish this could be reset. While under ATC direction this pretty well drowns out what you are being instructed to do.
August 24, 200421 yr "Useful"????Useful is an understatement... Thanks for posting your findings here, I was waiting to here an objective on this aircraft. I agree with everything you posted here. I just wish Aerodesigns chose a better gauge for the ND display. Thanks Rhodges... August 24, 200421 yr Dillion:Thanks for the reply.I still am not sure that I have the ILS/Glideslope procedure down pat. I cannot duplicate my first flight findings. Now in order to activate the crosshairs/Localizer/Glideslope bugs I am finding that I have to right click the heading selection. If the manual clears this up anywhere I have overlooked it I am afraid. Seems to be exactly the reverse of my first few flights findings on this subject. I'm going to need to experiment with this a bit. Still cannot get the autotune to do anything although it is enabled.Still think it is a neat plane. agree on the ND display. I assume that you have already discovered that the display moves in the "NAV" position, not "plan". Good luck:RTH
August 25, 200421 yr Found the Aerodesign site. Simply googled. Real difficult huh?http://aerodesigns.tk/Just downloaded four patches which may or may not address the problems in the above post.To be continued:RTH
August 25, 200421 yr I believe the above patches cured all problems that I know about with the exception of the hot EGT.Good luck:RTH
August 25, 200421 yr I'm going there now... FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
August 25, 200421 yr I too noticed how difficult she is to land manually in wind. But for a freeware airplane I am glad to see people spending time developing a VC, and a clickable one at that! Just a few minor things such as strobe light switch in VC turning off all other lights when turned off, no nav display in the VC, but overall shes awesome
August 25, 200421 yr I'm just glad to see the A320 series getting some attention. I said this before, we need a serious A320 simulation on the level of PMDG's offerings... August 25, 200421 yr Flown it once but MFD and engine display are still displaying Eric info and no flight condition information. I am using registered version of FSUIPC. Any idea how to get these working properly?regardsAdam
August 25, 200421 yr Author You have to load the plane in 2D panel mode in order to activate those gauges. Once you've done that you can switch to VC mode and they'll work fine. The same thing happened to me!thanks,
August 27, 200421 yr But there are no nav points or anything in the NAV display in the VC right? I installed all the updates but still do not see my flight plan on the display when flying in the VC
August 27, 200421 yr Assumed that you have loaded a flightplan from your "FlightPlanner".Directly above the knobs where you selected "NAV" and your range, just to the right of the barometric pressure display setting, Click/Press "CSTR". A green light will turn on and you will then have a moving map of your plan including all waypoints. This panel has a surprising quantity of features which it takes a bit of experimenting to uncover. for a freeware (or payware for that matter) I think it is a dandy offering.Happy flying:RTHEdit: As usual I do not read carefully. I see you said in the "VC". I am not into VC panels much. They do not turn me on as they do to many (To each his own). Try it there, really do not know if the waypoints display there or not, but it sure is a clear and good presentation in the 2D Panel.
