To "Ailchim"&"RonB49" re- project AI Airline schedules

Featured Replies

Hi there The number of gates is not the problem. I have close to 100 gates so there's lots of room for these critters to land. I've even taken out all my scheduled traffic and just left in the default and PAI traffic. Still the same results. I think I'm going to remove the PAI schedules and try re-installing them again and see if that works. There does'nt seem to be a "uninstall ex." for the PAI Installer. I've checked their manual and I can't find out how to remove it. Dumping all the PAI components into the recycle bin doesn't seem to work; the little devils,[aircraft] keep coming back to haunt me again. Any suggestions? Thanks Ken

I'd download some non-PAI planes (try Aardvark (have Air Canada B744, B763 and DC9 at least) and ARNZ (have WestJet B732) and substitute those for your PAI aircraft by copying the title="name of aircraft" statement from the PAI aircraft.cfg file to the Aardvark and ARNZ aircraft.cfg as appropriate, replacing the "name of aircraft" bit in the PAI file with something else.Failing that, you need to get some alternate Air Canada flight plans from somewhere and the thing gets more complicated thereafter.

Hi Ken,You say,"The number of gates is not the problem. I have close to 100 gates so there's lots of room for these critters to land."But have you checked the size (radius) of those gates vs the size (radius) of the planes attempting to use them? You can do this with ADFCAD2. First click on AFCAD2's "Tools" menu and select "Aircraft Editor". Then find the planes which are appearing suddenly. In this case, notice the Southwest 737-700 which uis highlighted. Note its radius, 32m. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/89275.jpgNext select "Parking" from the "Lists" menu and determine how many gates have a radius if 32m or greater.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/89282.jpgIf you find that you do not have any gates (or only a few gates) large enough to accomodate the aircraft in question, then you can right-click on individual gates, select "Properties" and enlarge the radius. In my examples the SWA 737-700 (32m) would never use Gate 8 (21m).http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/89283.jpgHow might this relate to your problem? If you only had one gate with a radius of 32m and two planes with a 32m radius, then as soon as one left the gate, another one would appear. I hope that this is helpful to you. R-

I'm going to risk jumping in here even though I have yet to set up my AI traffic. I recall reading at one of the AI websites that inappropriate cruise speeds can cause this type of thing. In FS9, AI aircraft cruise speeds must be from 200-300 kts, otherwise the planes can't adhere to the scheduled flight plans (or something like that), resulting in planes suddenly appearing at gates. If memory serves me, there is a file/doc called aircraft.txt where you can check and edit if necessary.Don't know if this is causing your problem or not.Jumping out now.

I haven't heard that.I'm also pretty sure it's wrong: the cruise speed for the default Lear 45 in my aircraft.txt file is 464, which I haven't changed for sure.I'm trying to pick an argument, but for me this is to do with the number of AI aircraft and the available gates of the right size.

I've been away and haven't been able to get back to you. Thanks for the tip on ADFCAD2. I've checked all the gates and they are all wihin the correct tolerances for each aircraft.I took out all the traffic I have scheduled and left in only the default and the Air Canada and Westjet traffic. I've got a good mix of small, medium and heavy gates so there should be no excuse for them not to land. Still the same problem exists. When I first installed the Project AI PKG. I had to go into safe mode to do it, because of my sound blaster sound card. I'm wondering if the sound card has something to do with the problem? At any rate, I would like to uninstall the "Project AI installer pkg" and try to re-install everything again. Do you know how to do that? I can't find any Un-install instructions in the Project AI user manual. Thanks Ken

Welcome back.> I can't find any Un-install instructions in the Project AI user manual.Wouldn't the appropriate uninstall procedure be to delete all of the PIA planes from your FS9Aircraft folder then to delete Traffic_PIA.bgl from the FS9SceneryWorldScenery folder? I don't recall that there are any arcane dll files or other magic stuff involved. Perhaps someone can correct me if I'm wrong. R-

No, you've got it quite right, Ron.Kevin
