Quick Thoughts involving GTX 680 with i5-750 Oced to 4.1ghz

Featured Replies

Hey y'all

I just need some quick advice - My current system is highly oced i5-750 - 4ghz (can push to 4.1ghz with keep temps stable) with Ram set to 1900. Now the issue is with my AMD 6970 (I use this for triple screen play).

Since reading all the other posts, I hear that Nvidia 670-680 gtx are really good with FSX/Prepar3d for performance.

Which video card can give more performance to my system without getting a CPU/motherboard upgrade? (I will do system upgrade in Dec 2013 or early 2014 to Haswell).

Full Current System specs are

Cpu - 4.0/4.1Ghz (i5-750)

Ram - DDR3 - 8GB set to 1900

Hard Drive - Sata 6 Gbit/s - 256 SSD

Video Card - 1 AMD 6970 (Triple Screen) - 5760x1200 Resolution.

Will a single 680 gtx 2gb help me in maintaining Triple screen resolutions (not all identical monitors, so it will 2D only), that is fine with me.

Thoughts?

Don't think a new GPU will do much. Three identical screens, a 680 4gb and a new cpu will. Especially a new cpu, and overclock it.

Thanks for the suggestion, I was coming to the same conclusion - I will wait for Haswell and 780 gtx and try to get them in few months. I am in no rush.

That´s the spirit, mate. Wait for the good things. I´ve been collecting items for my new build month by month since autumn last year. I´ll probably have my new rig done, when all that next generation stuff hits the streets lol
