Welcome to AVSIM!

As I mentioned on another thread:

If no one responds, you could always consider commercial repaint services such as that of Cielosim.

Doesn't FSX paintshop basically just paint over the top layer thus loosing details. Otherwise no vector layering?

@ FSPaintshop

Its very nice when a painter wants to help his fellow simmers by providing them with freeware paints.

Providing liveries on a commercial base is something totally different.

Then we have to keep in mind the following:

Most products ( freeware as well) state in their EULA , using ,repainting , editing , publishing etc on a commercial base is NOT allowed.

This means painting on a commercial base is only allowed when permitted by the developer/vendor.

I am afraid we might have a problem here don`t you think.

Violations may bring you big trouble

When I read in your "guidelines" :

You must provide me the aircraft model (payware) so I can properly line up the textures, this is for painting purposes only

This means your "clients" not only have to pay for your paints , they also have to buy you a legal version of the aircraft.

I cannot imagine someone to invest another $50,- just to provide you with the model.

Just sending you the package without a personal license for you is a violation of copy-rights.

Another thing.

You are advertising personal commercial activities on the AVSIM forum.

For commercial activities you must be registrated as commercial-member.

No need to say these activities need to be 100% legal.

Leen de Jager

P.S.

At Cielosim they know I am right about this.

They write:

First of all, we are not charging for the repaint itself. That would be illegal. We are charging for the actual service and labor..

When things were so simple as they think...............copyright would be just nonsense.

I can assure you things are far more complicated.

Making profit based on te use of copyright-protected textures/lay-outs without having permission given by the copyright-holder is always a violation.

Saying they are just charging a fee for the labour and the service and not for the paint itself.

Thats hilaric , I really think a judge in court would laugh his pants off too.

And then , fun is over.

@ RWFeldman

The program named FSRepaint in fact DOES allow painting on layered sheets.

Some things to keep in mind:

Real time painting on the actual 3D model only is possible using the build in editor of FSRepaint.

This editor has very limited possibilities and therefore quiet useless for serious painting.

Edited textures cannot be saved when using the FREE demo.

Its an excellent tool to track the lay-out of a texture-mapping and an excellent viewer.

To take advantage of these features the FREE demo will do a great job.

The FULL version allows us to couple FSRepaint to our painting program (like Photo- or PaintShop) wich allows us the use of layered files.

Painting in real-time 3D mode is only available when using the build-in editor.

Saving edited textures IS POSSIBLE using the full version..

FSRepaint does not always work in combination with all models.

Development of FSRepaint stopped years ago ,as far a I am aware.

@Leen, thanks for catching that.*

@FSPaintshop; re-read our ToS', and do not advertise in the forums. If you would like to advertise, please contact advertising@avsim.com

As my post about FSRepaint was adressed to      @RWFeldman it has nothing to do with you

Feldman mixed up FSPaintshop and FSRepaint and asked something about FSRepaint on this topic thats why.

I could do with earning some extra money.

How do you get around the copywrite issues to become a freelance painter?
