LR's team working on the missing RW lighting bug...

Recommended Posts

After having sent a bug report to LR regarding the missing PAPI / VASI and some other types of RW lighting, Austin, Ben and Robin are doing ther best to get it fixed!

We might get them back soon :-)

Good to hear. I, too, sent in a bug report, but the more the better.

For those who don't know, the work around is to replace "apt.dat" with a copy from an older version of X-Plane 10 (sorry, I forget the exact directory path).

..\X-Plane 10\Resources\default scenery\default apt dat\Earth nav data\apt.dat

But! If you get the older version, you'll loose other important updates for additional data for each airfield... They're fixing it as a whole right now ;-)

Ben Supnik responded to my bug report:

"We're looking into this now and we think we know what happened; the problem will be corrected in a future apt.dat release."

I don't have a problem with "missing" runway lighting. However I do note that PAPI lighting is only seen from a very narrow field of view - particularly problematic during the day time. If you're out of line with the runway approach, the lighting fades away very quickly.

Is this the bug you're talking about, or something completely different?

Submitted that bug months ago during the 10.10 beta run.

Robin posted an updated apt.dat file that will presumably be rolled into a future X-Plane 10 update but can be installed manually in the meantime.

Just did a quick test, and I can confirm that the missing lights are now back where they're supposed to be at my local airport.
