February 28, 201313 yr This one isn't really about flightsimming but about too strong an interest in aviation everywhere and everytime: I once was on a rw flight and read a book like 'air disasters' or something alike. I would quote the most dramatic descriptions to my wife, so that the other passengers near us would understand every word I was saying. March 1, 201313 yr Pilot said it was the fourth time they were given the wrong frequency, at which point Cleveland Center asked if it was the fourth time today or if it happens every day. I've been listening in on United flights where the pilots missed an ATC handoff, not once, but two or three times, until ATC crawls out of the mic at them.... I've also heard pilots switch freqs and find nothing, and have to go back to the previous ATC freq to inquire. More often than not when that has happened ATC says "my bad, I should have given you ......" More often than not when that has happened ATC says "my bad, I should have given you ......" I've only heard a JetBlue pilot go to another frequency and come back once, but that was because he had read the frequency back incorrectly in the first place.
