HiFlyer

Such an interesting little community.......

Recommended Posts

Booted up flight yesterday and did some Alsaka exploring before dropping into a mostly full room in Hawaii. It was the familiar mix of Flight newbies asking why other peoples planes were flying saucers and whatnot, and I did several leisurely passes in the vicinity of other fliers before wandering off to do some housework.

Not thinking (my bad) I left my plane center-line at the very edge of the runway where I thought it would be easy to ignore........

But 20 minutes later when I came back, everyone had landed and surrounded my plane in a semi-circle, apparently just waiting.....

So I hastily take off, noting all the other planes starting their engines and following behind me, and for the next half hour or so I had a semi-official escort with other planes apparently using me as the reference point for their maneuvers........ (I appropriately switched to the whale) ^_^

Its the sort of thing that only happens in Flight, and as I flew with the other players, there was a feeling of.... companionship, unique to Flight in my experience.

I guess I am saying flight is still fun! :P

Microsoft has a history of fake "customers" (who are actually MSemployees) who go out there to promote their stuff.

It's pretty funny at this point.

So. Your the Pied Piper of Flight? :P

Actually, there may be a grain of truth in it.........

There is a community aspect to the multiplayer, and now that I think on it, there are probably dozens of times where I've switched to a plane and landed, only to have another plane park nearby and switch to the same plane, followed by others until there is a parked group of the same plane.

In flight, I guess it's like revving your engines at another driver on the street while stopped at a red light.... An invitation of interest from the other person for some cooperative...... gameplay.

Actually, doing almost anything unusual seems to invite emulation, in-game.

Like I said, an interesting little community.

It is interesting, and neat to see there are still several folks in mutiplayer , especially newer folks.

It is a very neat community, though I do wish we still had some more here on the forum, several really good folks have moved on and I do miss their postings here.

Hard to believe in a few days, it will have been a year since the official release of this title, when there was so much excitement and folks here sharing things they learned, and yes some conflicts as well. Only for deveopment to be cancelled just a few short months later.

I just finished flying the Herschel Island Oil Rig aerocache, in the Icon. Have not flown the Icon in quite some time, and had forgotten how much fun it can be. After collecting the aerocache, I landed it in the water, taxied around a little, then shut the engine down - listening to the ripple of the water against the hull, watching the craft move up and down slightly in exterior view as the waves moved across. Very relaxing.

I took a break from Flight in the last 2-3 months, focusing on learning some other combat sims - decided to start flying Flight again with something new I had not done yet, the aerocache hunts, and am having a blast.

Hard to believe, what we have is all we will get. So much potential that has been lost or shelved...

That is a fleeting thought, I just don't believe that is prevalent here.

And I would highly doubt that, after all that were not be much to gain from the effort in doing so, at this point...

I doubt it. Why on earth would they waste employees' time on a product they've all but abandoned?
