767-400?

Recommended Posts

The guy asked if a plane will be developed by PMDG. Wouldn't a short "I don't think so" with a little, neat link to a forum post discussing this would have been the expert thing to do?

You said it all.

Probably, they will revive the Q-400 project then.

Just a friendly reminder that it was never the Q-400 that was planned. I believe a standard -100 and -200?

I dunno, all I know is that they originally planned a Dash-8, not sure which one it was. I believe it got held up by other projects.

I heard that the delay was caused by infighting over the lawnmower for the WoodPidgeon project. Apparently, Dr. Evil wanted a clean model with battered textures, but RSR insisted on the model itself being battered, despite the increased polygon count. They haven't been seen together in public since.

Pointless request. After the 777, 747 V2 and DC-6, there next project is very likely not going to be just another Boeing. PMDG or not, the market is very demanding nowadays and people always want something new. They can't keep the community satisfied with just Boeings only. Probably, they will revive the Q-400 project then. After this, perhaps an Airbus, but something like a CRJ would be much more likely.

Well, the DC-6 isn't a Boeing; its a Douglas product! Therefore, according to your argument, we can't keep expecting Boeing and Douglas/McD products... so we should expect an L1011, right? :P

As was mentioned, there was never word of Q400, I have seen 200 and 300 mentioned, but not officially. Either way it is not being worked on now.

I would disagree. PMDG have a way with Boeings, and people love Boeing airplanes and will buy them. IMHO it would be better, if there was another, skilled company that would build a similar relationship with Airbus (FSL?) and yet another who would specialize on other, smaller brands, like Bombardier, Embraer and so.

Well guys PMDG have been developing 3 aircraft concurrently so who knows what at least 2 of the next 3 products will be. One will be the DC3 or DC4 according to the Captain. So what the other two are, time will tell.

As for past products, the Captain said that they didn't sell that many MD11, more than McDonnell Douglas, but not a huge success from a sim POV. I love it BTW lol. So there is nothing wrog with suggestions. Market research will determine the products developed.

Alright guys,

I didn't realize that there were threads of this already. No need to flip out when something happens like this. Just close the thread and forget about it I suppose. My bad...

Yes PMDG make good Boeings but they made a good MD-11 too (OK it became a Boeing, but it isn't a Boeing concept or design, very different in fact). They also made an excellent Jetstream 41. If they were Boeing only we wouldn't have those two addons (or the Beech 1900s). Or the forthcoming DC-6B. It really doesn't make sense for a developer to specialise on one aircraft manufacturer.

Some people may well love Boeings. Others like airliners in general. I don't "love" one manufacturer over another.

Thanks for the post Paul, but I have received more updated information. Ryan decided to recently intervene concerning this issue. He was successful in getting Dr. V. and RSR to work out their differences and begin moving forward with the WoodPidgeon project again. Unfortunately one the outcomes of the discussion was that both Dr. V. and RSR agreed that Ryan was to blame for the entire incident in the first place. Ryan was immediately reprimanded and hasn't been heard from since. Big%20Grin.gif

Going back under my rock...

I am curious, I know with the 767-400ER they redesigned the cockpit and systems. I have not found a lot of information of WHAT changed, someone in the past said more like a 777 than 767. Just wondering, I've gone to Wikipedia and Googled it but have not found much on what was modified. Kind of interesting variant, along with the 757-300; it was wanted intitialy but never had very many sales. Hoping the 747-8 doesn't join this list.

I have not looked too much into it, but basically it seems to me they did the same thing as when they updated the Classic 737 to the NG.

Found this at boeing.com

Airlines that operate both the Boeing 757 and 767 have greater flexibility in assigning flight crews and adapting to changing markets. They also benefit from similar maintenance procedures, manuals and inspection requirements and reduced spares inventories. More than 26 airlines around the world operate both 757s and 767s.

The Boeing 767-400ER offers a new 777-style flight deck that makes the airplane easier to maintain and allows operators to tailor the flight-deck equipment to their training needs. The new instrument panel - which features six large liquid-crystal displays in the same arrangement as the Boeing 777 and Next-Generation 737 - consolidates 67 different flight deck parts to 20, simplifying maintenance and improving flight crew efficiency. Commonality of these flight decks can significantly reduce training requirements to transition pilots of other Boeing models to the 767-400ER.

Still has a 757/767 type rating but I know there is a differences training for those jumping from a -200/-300. Answered my question.

What's wrong with people having this proprietary feeling over the PMDG forum? The guy asked a question. You want to be helpful direct him to an answer regarding the 767-400. You don't like the question, then ignore the post and do not answer. No need to be fighting who has a better memory of what has been said by PMDG at any point in time. We know everybody here is a cocky expert with knowledge that extends beyond that of basically anybody else. Of course, there is a search function everywhere. There is one on Youtube if I want to see videos of the 777; there is one on the FCOM pdfs if you want to ask something regarding flying the plane; I even heard Google had one and it shows you all sort of results not limited to the AVSIM forums. It can tell you how big the 777 is, it can show you its first flight and stuff... no kidding. Now since I believe I just got the status of the cocky expert myself, there is one more thing: There is apparently no search function for patience and helpfulness.

Oh well, it is what it is. :-)

Apparently you gave most people the PMDG forum fix of the day. You see we got here and it went like this:

"Nothing new on the 777... Oh look at that! A request thread! Let's reply, make a mess, get our fix and sleep in peace and hope for an update or some one asking a question tomorrow for the day's fix."

Thank you!!!! I said that long time ago. I understand PMDG has quality stuff, and it's worth the money, but they have all these spokesmen on here who jump on the opportunity when a new person who is enjoying an aircraft that PMDG made, thinks, "hey it would be cool if they made this" and when posts and asks his question the peanut gallery starts in on the guy like he commited a sin or something. The first thing to remember first and foremost this is a hobby and a game simulator, some of you gents take this to serious. Some of the people you insult are just kids with imagination just lie you guys, why go take dump on some guys imagination. If don't have anything nice to say please JUST don't say anything.
