Welcome to the Internet.
March 1, 201313 yr Do a search for... That was the first thing I thought of when Fr. Bill wrote that. Maybe we need a new rule... Rule 33: if it exists, there's a sim of it. The closest I ever got to a brothel sim was in one of the Gangsters games where I had one set up with a jewelry store as a front. So many of these sims seem so boring to many people. You gotta remember that it's not just a game, it's a learning experience. I enjoyed playing Sim Tower, which should have been called Sim Elevator. I learned a bunch about elevator scheduling. I was hoping for one on traffic light simulation so I could figure out whether the city planners were helping us or messing us over. I'm not sure how much there is to learn from a forklift simulator, since I've never tried operating a forklift, but I'm sure it's a fun game, for a while. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! March 1, 201313 yr I learned a bunch about elevator scheduling. Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but what in blue blazes is elevator scheduling. Captain Kevin Air Kevin 124 heavy, wind calm, runway 4 left, cleared for take-off. Live streams of my flights here.
March 1, 201313 yr what in blue blazes is elevator scheduling. If you've ever waited far too long for an elevator to arrive at your floor, you've experienced bad elevator scheduling. For example, depending on the time of day, an elevator may be parked at the top floor or at the bottom, or possibly one of the middle floors. Complex installations will require express elevators so you don't have to stop at 30 different floors if all you wanted was to get to the penthouse. Elevators can be taken out of service or put back in, depending on loads. Sometimes the only solution is to add more elevators. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! Hook I remember reading about this as a kid, and the speculation that even if it became possible in some sci-fi future to build mile high buildings, the difficulty's of elevator scheduling might make it impossible to get around in them reasonably..... If you ever rode in the World Trade Center elevators, you would remember the sensation of essentially being dropped, then slowed then dropped again all the way to the lower levels (made my heart race just short of panic as a little kid) or the huge looooooong (really long) whoosh!!!!! of semi-trapped air from the shaft when the doors opened at the upper level...... I can't imagine how long it would take to get up or down a mile high building..... How much would just the cables weigh!? We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... March 1, 201313 yr I've thought about getting ETS 2. I plan on downloading the demo. If it is more graphics card dependent vs. cpu, it should run well for me. I am curious whether one can drive full routes with it--i.e. from Frankfurt to Munich and how accurately positioned the towns and landmarks are along the way. I tried ETS 1 once and liked it but it looked like the routes were truncated with it. Regards, John
March 1, 201313 yr ETS2 has no full length routes. There are landmarks here and there (mostly there) but not in accurate places due to the roads not being full length. This is the one and only reason that I don't play the game anymore. Give me only ONE real full length route and I am in again. Most towns are missing: only the ones you can visit (big cities) are there, but you can only visit the outer side of the town, where the companies are. Which look the same in every town. City landmarks can sometimes be seen but only in the distance, as a skyline.
March 1, 201313 yr Lol, this guy is crazy... just watched nerdcubed DCS A-10, very painful experience. I guess we have an answer what would happen if you put someone not familiar with aviation in jet cockpit. I mean, even a simmer would have a decent plan what he want to do. Back on topic, ETS2 looks very nice, but Im not interested in truck simulations, mostly because of lack of full scale maps. March 2, 201313 yr That's funny. I've had to buy it on Amazon to see just how bizarre it is for myself! Jason Jackett
March 6, 201313 yr Well I bought it......Not a bad little time waster with the added "sim-business" aspect of building up a company. Eighteen months ago I was so sure I was going to like Sim Racing games (iRacing, Rally, etc), that I grabbed Fanatech GT3 Porsche Wheel, Clubsport pedals, an Obutto and had someone build a stand for my triple 40" LED's. My interest in Sim Racing faded quickly when I found out: 1. I suck 2. Seems to have a high proportion of wankers that get mad and crash into you on purpose The gear sat and I used the Obutto and Triple mount for IFR work prior to my test and other gaming. Dragged it all back out and it works great with ETS2. Worth the $30 on Amazon for me. The free demo, though not time limited, will cut you off around level 3 or 4. John Skibo
