March 7, 201313 yr Sometimes increases the sim rate - on long cruises with airliners, not so much with GA flights. Sometimes uses real world routes - if i'm flying a domestic usa route, otherwise not so much, hard to find good references and not a huge priorty for me as long as it's not totally unrealistic. i guess i fly bbj style in this regard. Sometimes uses proper airlines on routes - if i have the livery, sure, but i wont go out of my way to download it. i dont spend much time looking in the external view anyway. Always uses real time or weather. - i'm totally a stickler for this. also use autostar so my planets are correct too lol i think it's just a matter of priorities, what people like from the sim, it's a testament to it's flexibility that there is so much variation in usage cheers, -andy crosby
March 7, 201313 yr I am a #5. I see the thought of FSX being a SIM is not the case for some it's just a game. Each to there own. That's a rather daft comment, don't you think? No I don't, but you would think that being that FSX is just a game to you. Each to there own. David Murden. March 7, 201313 yr About a 1.5 from me  I'll get my coat... Sometimes increases the sim rate (on long flights) Doesn't use real world routes Doesn't use proper airlines on routes (Get me with my Aeromexico flight from Ibiza to Valencia last night  ) Sometimes follows real-time but almost always uses real weather
March 7, 201313 yr 5.0 for me for everything I fly, adds to the immersion 'to do it right'. Same here
March 7, 201313 yr This topic makes me want to fly the NGX upside down from Miami to Shanghai, refueling from the menu as necessary in midair. With time compression it will only take a few minutes. I guess nobody ever loads up flight sim for a few minutes before dinner to do a few touch and goes in an airliner because that would be unrealistic. If people really want to be realistic, then you should probably spend the next couple of years flying from the right side of the aircraft as first officer. Where did all these instant Captains come from, anyways? B)
March 7, 201313 yr 5 for me. Thank god for www.airnav.com and www.flightaware.com the places I get my routes and nav info from. Nice post by the way and it is a wonderful change to the usual. Cpt out. Best Regards, Robert J McGill
March 7, 201313 yr I am a 5+ also. Flying the LDS 767 any other way would take all the immersion out of the flight Bob
March 7, 201313 yr No I don't, but you would think that being that FSX is just a game to you. Each to there own. It's a simulator of flight to me (ie, the interaction of an aircraft with the atmosphere). There are many aspects to flight, some of which have nothing whatsoever to do with following strict procedures and checklists. Please remember that. March 7, 201313 yr Never increases the sim rate. Doesn't use real world routes. Doesn't use proper airlines on routes. Doesn't follow real-time or weather. Doesn't fly aircraft "by the book". That's me  yer but your not leaving much to me as a simulator. But you remember I said each to there own. So if your enjoying your game good for you I say. David Murden. March 7, 201313 yr 'Realism' is subject to interpretation in FS. Your can define your own level to whatever makes you happy. For example, Charters that fly to unscheduled destinations are not unrealistic, very rich people who have super-luxury airliners as personal transports is not unrealistic, airliners performing at airshow events is not unrealistic. Is flying an airliner by yourself without a first officer, cabin crew, and without relief crew for long hauls realistic? Simulator vs Game is a grey area with lots of overlap. The 'Sims', is it a game or a 'life simulator'? Does it even matter? Probably not.
