Hong Kong FSX Live from Flightsoft

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

So what is the deal with this new Hong Kong scenery release?

http://flightsoftglobal.com/hkpressrelease/hkpressrelease.htm

I fly a lot in Asia so am very interested. They make it sound like the best scenery ever. Five years in the making, but for all the bragging on the press release and with a Eur70 price tag, they don't offer a video clip??

Any thoughts or info would be appreciated.

Peter

Was this Samsoft Scenery Design? Looks very similar just a change in name.

I'd be interested to know whether its any better than Fly Tampa's excellent Hong Kong & Kai Tak. As 'The final frontier in the history of Flight Simulation' its going to have to go some to match the hyperbole.

Judging from the screen shots it looks worse than the FlyTampa version to me. Looks like the airport uses default ground polys for the runways/taxiways/etc. I dont have the FlyTampa version but from all the screen shots I have seen, it really looks to be a work of art and from what I understand performs very well on top of it.

If I was going to get a Kai Tak/Hong Kong package I would stick with the tried and true best which looks to be the FlyTampa version imho.

I looked at the screenshots on sim market and for the price of 70 euro doesn't look that flash at all! Ill stick with Flytampa. As previously stated a VDO would have been good to showcase it.

I believe VDO is video based on the context of what they said.

No it is not.

I was very disappointed with some issues that were never taken care

of with the old version even after me pointing them out to them. The response I got from them was that I had to live with the issues since they had no intention to fix them.

I love FlyTampa Hong Kong, and consider it to be one of the greatest FSX sceneries.

My thoughts from another thread:

"I remember reading about FlightSoft Hong Kong and disagreeing with the opinion of the developer:

"Aerosoft / Fly Tampa HONG KONG FSX. Despite bright blue skies with little cloud cover the overwhelming darkness around the building structures emerges as a most unattractive feature of this otherwise valiant attempt to render a scenery of Hong Kong for Microsoft Flight Simulator X."

I personally think that the "overwhelming darkness" of FlyTampa Hong Kong is actually a great feature. The brightness of FlightSoft Hong Kong is somewhat cheap-looking and unfitting compared to the surrounding scenery, which is not as bright.

Many FSX developers and video "advertisements" feature ample color correction, as the blemishes and low resolution of both default and payware textures are revealed and emphasized if bright lighting is used."

You can get this for 26 euros and it's 100000X times better

Could someone buy this and post a vid and review? The price seems way high. Plus it will have to compete with FlyTamps's VHHX which is one of my top addons. I wish someone would do a complete Singapore and WSSS in FSX. Right now I've merged Samsoft and Imaginesim but there are still a lot of anomalies.

Ah okay, thanks for that. VDO is video - blimey, we have to abbreviate five-lettered words now ?!
