In need of a translation...

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Last night I stumbled upon a file (over, at the other site) called aon_3_3.zip.

Inside are a bunch of reworked airports in Norway.

Installation is a no brainer for those who understand English. However, inside the readme file

the author reffers to another file that is supposed to be needed to have his file work properly.

That other file is called NSX_II.zip and can be found on a Norwegian site. (link is present in the readme of aon_3_3.zip).

And there I am stuck. The installation isn't very straight forward and all instructions are in Norwegian (is that the correct name for the language?)

So now I am looking for somebody who can translate the instructions in English.

The file itself is called " NSX_II_beta_ver_094.zip "

Thanks

Hi Luc,

Just goto Google.com and click on Translate and copy and paste the information in there and it will translate it. You just name the country and then select translate to English.

Best regards,

Jim

Do you think much goes wrong with a "default installation"?

Is the "readable" instruction straight forward?

- create an additional folder in the 'addon scenery' + a 'scenery' and a 'texture' subfolder

- put those scenery and texture files into the appropriate sub-folders

- activate the new scenery manually from within FSX

Just give it a try, maybe?

Jim,

stupid me...

I should have thought about that solution myself.

When I get home tonight I will give it a try.

and to Oliver,

the part I understand is indeed straight forward. However, a part of the instructions point me to the terrain.cfg.

And I don't like to change anything that I don't understand (not even if the original file is backuped)

Thanks for the info

* Edit: I wrote a really long post here translating the installation instructions, however, the forum dropped the post, I'm guessing something went wrong with the latest forum update. The software is acting up for me. I'll sum up the translation again I'll guess

'VIKTIGT ! terrain cfg.txt':

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! Make a backup of your terrain.cfg before you start
=============================================================================

To make NSX_II work optimally you need to modify your terrain.cfg. Without this modification the beaches will disappear in the remade areas and the beaches will be unnaturally wide throughout NSX_II

Terrain.cfg is located in your root FSX installation directory

====================================================================

If you already have Richard Ludowise and Luis Féliz-Tirado's modified terrain.cfg then you only need to modify the StripWidthMeters.

Open terrain.cfg with Notepad and change [Texture.0],1,2, 4,5, 17, 22, 39, 68, 80 to the following (remove the old and paste in the new):

Please notice that the various Texture.XX entries are not all in sequence, it's important that you copy each section by themselves, and not the whole thing in one go.

There's also a document called NScenicUTE.txt, it's located in the 'Doc' subfolder. It describes the priority order you need for the various components of Norway Scenic X II and Airports of Norway in your Scenery Library. The document is written in English and doesn't need translating. There are a couple of notices about the example tho. The example contains references to Ultimate Terrain Europe. If you do not got Ultimate Terrain Europe you should ignore any entries referring to "UT". The example also references "Norway_Scenic_LC". This particular entry is not required, it's files from the old Norway Scenic X release (I'm not using this myself, so I have no idea how it looks compared to just NSX_II, NSX_II looks fine without that package). There is also a reference to Norway_Mesh. I do recommend getting this mesh, it's freeware and available from the link in the document. The mesh was originally developed for FS9, but it works great in FSX as well.

If you need clarification when it comes to my translation or the installation procedure itself don't hesitate to ask.

Good luck and happy flying!
