He does deserve a lot of credit and does good work. The 19.95 was a bit tounge in cheek but still a lot of simmers want the world for very little money. It would be great if the world worked that way but the truth is we only get what we pay for. There is also room in the market for those who would rather fly 1 or 2 great models that give realism and satisfaction than 10 or 15 that sort of do good. March 10, 201313 yr I forgot that you can get a steam gauge T206H. Hopefully that's what they'll do.

Sometimes I wish they we're doing an older steam TBM700 not the 850, because even without a G1000 that still has too much glass for Carenado.

Lee
March 10, 201313 yr Wow steam is pulling out quite a lead on Facebook. Too bad it won't let me vote? Still trying to figure out why. Lee
March 10, 201313 yr I think for the most part, the steam guages are popular because of the performan hit from the good G1000 units. I am not a programer but it seems as the world moves forward then Glass is something that has to become the norm. I don't think that is quite right. It seems that most of the people against Carenado glass gauges are against them because they are inaccurate, not because of the frame rate issues. I fully support the Flight1 G1000 aircraft as they are very well done. They aren't perfect either, but at least their G1000 lets you do very basic things like flight planning and supports nav database updates. If Carenado could prove they can create a worthy G1000, I'd love to see more glass from them. Tired of Streetlights everywhere? Try MSFS DarkStreets today!
March 10, 201313 yr Yep it's not about the performance loss for me. The F1 G1000 is worse on my system than carenado's. but you get a semi realistic version from F1 - totally worth it. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

March 10, 201313 yr If you turn the terrain on, I agree, there's some big rendering problem and fps plummet. I just don't turn on the terrain. The topographical map is fine fwiw. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
March 12, 201313 yr I bought the Stang for 65 bucks when it came out, and this isn't Carenado's price range to be sure. They like the 35-45 market. To be fair, they have done pretty well with the glass they have made so far, they just need to get better at it. A quick look at their catalog will show they were not always the graphics masters they are today. It takes time. I believe a good performance glass panel can be made with Navigraph support. I like the way Milviz is developing the 350. As close to real as they can get it Proline, with a steam option. How can they go wrong with that approach? I'm not against steam, but I do want new planes from time to time like the SR22, TBM850 and the KingAir 350i. The irony of modern computer equipment simulating pre-1980 aircraft, has got to be in a science journal somewhere. And now for something completely different; Is anyone else having word wrap irregularities when posting? Very irritating.
March 12, 201313 yr The F1 T182 with the G1000 is only $39.95 and is a much better option than the Carenado version if G1000 functionality is a major concern for you. I'm actually amazed by how much you can do in the F1 G1000 with the real Garmin manuals. I would much rather Carenado stick to steam (or a mix like the jet prop) and forget the G1000. Performance wise and functionality wise its not up to scratch. March 12, 201313 yr I would love to see Carenado build a little jet called a VIPER JET MKII. It was a home built project taken on by a guy that used to run Cessna. It is a two place jet with tandem seating. It has a glass cockpit and is one awesome little plane. There are a couple of you tube videos on it and I think these guys could do an awesome job on it. Just a thought. Cpt. out. Best Regards, Robert J McGill
March 17, 201313 yr I agree, it seems most people don't care for the glass panels, including me. I might also add it seems like Carenado has also gone away from lite versions of their aircraft as well, at least with it's last three new FSX offerings. After a dozen aircraft and many years, they have pretty much lost me as a customer because I won't buy an aircraft that may not run well on my older puter with all the scenery add-ons and such. Actually I think it's the glass cockpits that are causing the frame rate issues as well. I own several of their "HD" aircraft - C337, CT210M and T182T. Looking down the runway at a typical OrbX airport, I'm getting around 20-22 FPS with all three. However, when I turn on the avionics in the T182T, it drops to 11 FPS. With the other two, frame rate is unaffected. I'm especially surprised by how detailed the CT210M looks inside (just as nice as the T182T), yet the frame rate is basically the same as their older designs like the C172, and a completely different experience than the T182T. I think their glass instruments are just poorly optimized. Also FSX/P3D handles them poorly, making them hard to read when in fact they should be easier to read than steam gauges. -
June 1, 201313 yr Judging by some new screens on their Facebook page Carenado will equip the Stationair with steam gauges. Nice! Cheers, Bert AMD Ryzen 5900X, 32 GB RAM, RTX 3080 Ti, Windows 11 Home 64 bit, MSFS 2024
June 17, 201312 yr New screens again; we're getting a steam and a glass version :good: Cheers, Bert AMD Ryzen 5900X, 32 GB RAM, RTX 3080 Ti, Windows 11 Home 64 bit, MSFS 2024
June 18, 201312 yr Yep, we're getting both  Also they have fixed the frame rate issues with the TBM 850, so hopefully the 206 will use the same implementation. -
