Audio over IP from one computer to another

Recommended Posts

Not quite a home cockpit but I have the following setup:

Both PC's windows 8 connected via Gigabit network.

FlightSim PC:

Opus etc

Aircraft with FS2Crew <- Needs mic input

VOXATC for non VATSIM flight

USB Headset

Joystick with PTT (PTT with push and 4 way hat so have configured teamspeak, private chat, etc)

FSUPIC with WideFS7 (the god of utility software)

Support PC:

Avilasoft EFB display

Navigraph NDAC

For PTT I use WideFS to broadcast PTT to both PC's and this works fine

For Audio I select listen to the headset on the first PC and use the soundcard as the listening device, this connects to line in using a cable on the Support machine which feeds the audio into Squawkbox.

On the Support machine I have line out connected to line in on the Flightsim PC with listen enabled and the headset as the listening device.

It all works but I'd like to loose the digital to analogue to digital conversion steps on both cables if only to not have to bother recabling stuff when using Skype etc.

Does anyone know of an affordable way to have audio over IP so that an output audio device (i.e. virtual) connects to an input audio device on another (i.e. virtual), this would be ideal for me.
