I set off from Shageluk, since that is where I left the Cub last time.

 

 

 

 

This is one of the reasons why I like Flight so much - the view is stunning. Yes, grays and whites, but it looks more realistic than any previous version of FS, almost like really being there - without the freezing cold. :rolleyes:

 

 

 

 

I stopped at Grayling first - hard to see these strips when they are covered in snow.

Definitely. The greys and whites of winter Alaska (especially some of the snow and ice textures) give me the best feeling of 'being there' I've had in a sim to date. It's a bit dark, but I especially like the minutes before the sun comes up. Amazingly realistic, subdued lighting.

Description:
Anvik: population 82 -- The first checkpoint on the Yukon River, the longest river in Alaska, stretching 1,875 miles from its headwaters in the Yukon Territory of Canada to the Bering Sea. The church bell signals the arrival of the first musher to this picturesque village. Two stores can be found here. The checkpoint is in the lodge.  The Millennium Alaskan Hotel serves a seven course dinner to the first musher arriving at this checkpoint as well as a cash award.

Thank you Tunaman for the this information and for the great Aerocache's you have done. I have submitted  six so far. Two have been used by Microsoft to date and I have two more ready to go today. I find it fun and a good learning experience to hunt for that perfect location. There is still a lot of strange and interesting places out there in Hawaii and Alaska. I think it is a great way to get the community involved. I think that was probable Flights intention in the first place, too bad so many people just wrote it off as a kids game and did not dig into it further. It is their loss.
