Would be nice if PMDG at least fixed the CTD in the FMS that relates to missed approach and STAR waypoints.

Best regards,

Robin.

Not gonna happen. PMDG has already stated their position on this subject. They say there's not enough market interest to justify the endeavor.

Numbers don't lie.  They didn't see good numbers on the initial release.  They probably won't see any better on a subsequent release (worth taking time from developing other projects).

All you need to do is watch the video from the Munich conference.  Robert essentially said they "learned their lesson" with the aircraft, as they were making aircraft they wanted, and not necessarily what the market wanted.

Even though there won't be an updated version, and the sales were far worse than expected, I'm so glad they made it!

People buy what they are familiar with.  Let's face it, unless you fly FED EX, UPS or one of the few Asian carriers that still operate the MD-11, the majority of the flight sim community won't be interested.  Hell, I flew on the thing back when AA had it, actually flew on it a few times and I didn't buy it.  No desire; in my mind it wasn't a popular plane then and sure as hell isn't a popular plane now.  Disagree with me all you want, but if it ain't flying, I ain't buying.  And that's the demographic in the flight sim nation.

They already have, and there's even a video of it.

(start it at 2:10 - he doesn't speak very highly of its sales and impact)

You can very easily imply from there.

The MD-11 will not be remade, the PMDG level WXR is impossible in FS, the 777 will not have 2D cockpit and there is no PMDG Airbus planned.

Is that so hard to understand?

Yep!  Steinskjellveien.

Bodø? Bardufoss? Noe annet?

Jaså, du kan litt norsk også? It was Bodø AFB. Terrible place, wonderful job. Was a crew chief assistant on the F-16. Got to do alot

of fun things.. Kinda glad that I learned about the dangers of inhaling jetfuel fumes after I was done serving  (Yeah, we had the

fun job of climbing into the engine cowling to check the inlet blades after each flight, and even if I was wearing a cheap mask,

I still felt abit drousy afterwards)

Its just really difficult theese days to see the difference between trolling and just plain trolls.. Its either "We want no trolling here" or "we want no trolls here", the latter being a GREAT insult to people like me :P

Can see how the Troll appendum would ruffle Nordic feathers, but I hope that we saw where Thomas was coming from.

Ja, litt, men jeg har ikke snakket/skrevet for en lang tid.  I can still read it to a pretty high level, though.  Nobody would want to hear me speak, anyway, as Rogaland dialekt was voted the ugliest in Norway, apparently.  There was a kid at my university who was from Oslo who walked up to me, started speaking Norsk, and quickly switched to English after hearing my response - haha.  I learned to speak "properly" (Bokmål), but having just gotten back from Hommersåk, I kicked right into the slangy " 'eg" and "ikje," osv.  Oh well...

Jet A is a wonderful thing.  I doused myself in it once trying to fuel a JetRanger with a range extender.  Clearly, the manufacturer of that product did not have fluid dynamics in mind.  There's a right angle in the filling tube:

How about it PMDG?

You know it's the second most popular aircraft in FSX.

I would pay whatever the cost.

I love the md-11 and own both fs9/fsx versions.  I also see a KLM MD11 fly over my house every Wednesday heading into CYUL 24R :drinks:

Of course:-). Im justing having fun with it. The first time I stumbled upon the term "to troll someone", I had a good laugh about it and have ever since wondered where it came from (to troll someone). The picture Thomas posted was hilarious, just could not help myself joking abit about it.

Den styggeste dialekten i Norge? Hehe, joda. Vi krangler stadig vekk om dialekter her. Skarre-r er allikevel verst i Bergen!!!  Men hvor lenge bodde du her da?

About that Jetranger: You pull the red handle back and stick the nozzle down into it? What a strange little construction.

Still is a very neat and simple way to measure the amount. I really cant stand to fill up the C172 at Sola flyklubb. Its so difficult to know when to stop in time, cause it rises so quickly. Ive flooded the wings more than once!

What do you do for a living BTW?

Makes me wish I lived under the approach to a large airport with long haul flights to and from it. I do live in the "Visual approach RWY36" zone @ ENZV, but its limited how much fun it is to watch 737s land here..

Im really glad KLM kept theirs for so long. Gotta try to get another trip in it before its to late!

Lol yeah I was a ramper too for a little while.  I remember refueling the Sheriff's 407, it just had the usual side cap.  The only way you knew it was full is when you were wearing some fuel.  My favorite plane to fuel was the Avanti...single point to make things easy.   Least favorite was that damn Cessna Caravan...the fuel caps are waaaaay up there and I am not particularly tall so at top of the ladder the wing was still about shoulder level.  Fortunately I never had to refuel it in icy conditions, that would have been a candidate for the darwin awards probably lol.

Haha - I've never been to Bergen, but I'll make sure to listen to the people around me to see if I'm there some time.  I lived there a few times in between high school and university (mostly on breaks from either), with the shortest time being a week and the longest time around a month.  I guess "lived" is a strong word, but I did occasionally go to my friend's classes at Sandnes VGS (where I got a weird look from the teacher, because she was told I was from America and assumed I wouldn't understand or answer a question she posed to the class, in Norsk), so it's not like it was simply a series of vacations.

Yeah, you pull the red tab up, twist it and pop it off.  It should be similar to the fuel caps on the external tanks of the F-16s, I'd imagine.  With the range extender, it's just a pain because the fuel backflows if you try to fill it too quickly, because of that right angle (which is how I doused myself).  I'd take a 172 over a range extender any day.  I actually bought a few maps from Sola Flyklubb the first time I visited Norway.  I still have them somewhere.

Mine would be the Mu-2.  You have to fill the tip tanks first, and balance the load: 50% of one, then full on the other, and then back to the first to top it off.

...and then there were the Garretts.

I worked at Virginia Tech's airport (BCB), where there was lots of game day traffic - tons of traffic before the game, none during, and a ton after.  So, everyone would come in, and during the game we'd fuel all of them.  Since there was never any traffic I'd usually leave my hearing protection inside.  Then one day the Mu-2 showed up, so I went over to park it, forgetting my hearing protection was inside.  I'm pretty sure my eyes were watering from the shrill of those engines.  Never again did I walk outside without at least ear plugs in my pocket.

Guys, reading this topic made me reinstall the MD 11 after a year or so. Watching tutorials setting up the bird (I forgot most of the things after flying the NGX most of the time), I'm really impressed how beautiful and nice programmed this bird is, even for its age. I think I'll park my NGX and fly the MD11 for a while.

HAPPY FLYING

Raymond

I'v been flying the MD11 a fair bit of late (especially in the leadup to, and during the Vatsim "Cross the Pond" flyin.)

Still the best long-range aircraft in FSX. Ok, so the graphics might not be as pretty and new as the NGX, but you're not going to be flying an NGX on an 8 or 9 hour flight across the Atlantic deep into Continental USA.

The operation of the aircraft... FMS, Avionics etc is great.

Those that say "The MD11 sux now that the NGX is the new standard" must be literally flying only one aircraft type in the sim now days. Yes the NGX is better than the PMDG MD11, but it's just about the only thing that is.
