I am thinking of getting the MD-11

Featured Replies

Very challenging sim but rewarding. The Md-11 is quite different from Boeing and Airbus so the tutorial flight is highly recommended even for advanced simmers. Worth every penny though.

OOM with 8GB of RAM? Jeezus!

FSX is a 32bit program and can only access up to 4gb of memory.

Get it! If you have FS9 get it for that instead - you'll avoid the FSX random CTD, especially if you plan on going long-haul.

The MD-11 is an outstanding aircraft, and PMDG did a great job.

Best regards,

Robin.

Thanks for all your replies. I have FS2004 as well but admit I prefer FSX, I also have X-Plane 10 which is also very good.

The MD-11 is a must have for all fans of tripple engine a/c's - I recommend it without any word of critic to that product.

Please take care during the process of installation - it's better to outsource Fsx into C, away from X86! It makes sense to

click the button "show all variants" in the aircraft selection menu of FSX - I did not and so I have never seen the liveries

I installed; perhaps some of you remenber my posts about this :P.

Nothing beats an Swissair flight from GVA to NCE during a blizzard...

Thanks everyone, still not bought it yet but will do.

+1, get it. I've bought it just couple of weeks ago and do not regret that purchase a bit. One of the best planes for FSX (I do have most of the other ones incl. NGX).

It's amazing. Be prepared to do some reading and learning though!

Thanks,

Beech Baron: Uh, Tower, verify you want me to taxi in front of the 747?
ATC: Yeah, it's OK. He's not hungry.

X-Plane 12 and MSFS2020  🙂

System specs: Windows 11  Pro 64-bit, Ubuntu Linux 20.04 i7-13700KF  Gigabyte Z790 RTX-4060-Ti , 32GB RAM  1X 2TB M2 for X-Plane 12,  1x256GB SSD for OS. 1TB drive MSFS2020

OOM on a 64bit windows and 8GB ram = Reduce autogen back from maximum & maybe put that Terrain LOD area back to a default setting. I have Aerosoft's Antarctica and it increases the LOD visibility setting so you don't get fuzzy terrain down way south where the longditude lines start converging. Leaving those settings as Aerosoft modify them when you come back from the high latitudes = OOM time.

Autogen back to normal, LOD back to normal, AI traffic back a bit, and you should be nicely clear of OOM.
