Flight Toolkit Support and Questions

Recommended Posts

@samtx: The data is stored under your Application Data folder - Local - GFWL and then inside your corresponding profile folder.

%localappdata%\Microsoft\Flight\Players\<some random string>\ProfileData.xml

Thanks to both of you! I've got my profiles backed up now.

Basys, Heimi:  Do you guys have a connection to the Flight server (the icon that shows in the hangar to say whether you have a data connection)?  I'm noticing when I start Flight I never seem to be connected to this server any more.  I wonder if these problems you are seeing with the multiplayer preview aircraft is related.  I'm trying to think, and I assume that those might not have ever worked with the toolkit.  Does that seem right?

I can't test these theories myself unfortunately as I own all the planes and can't download any previews.

Hi Steve

My apologies for my delay in replying.

re: %appdata%\Local\Microsoft\Xlive\DLC\ -

As per my previous post,

my -
%appdata%\Local\Microsoft\Xlive\DLC\
Is totally empty, & contains no subfolders.

re: Connection to FLIGHT servers -

Mouseovering FLIGHT's connection indicator in -
- Map
- Hangar
all return text - "Connected to Microsoft Flight Server",

though indicator isn't 'Gold coloured' as IIRC it should be.

Relatedly -

RHS panel of FLIGHT's launch menu,

when -

- Failed To Connect - Shows Icon aircraft

- Successfully Connected - Shows Carbon Cub aircraft.

From connections manager -

re: Discrepancies between AddonConfiguration.xml and FileLocator.config

Files contained in C:\FS\F\Xlive\DLC\4d5308d2\00000002

Those elements missing from FileLocator.config
all correlate with items being "ticked, but greyed out" in FTK AddonManager.

1) In the content error log, I receive the same errors but this does not my installed aircraft.

My suggestion is for you to launch "Games For Windows Marketplace.exe," go to Settings, and check whether all the details are correct.

If this does not work, I have also realized something wrong with the FileLocator.config in your main Microsoft Flight folder:

  <MappingEntry LocationType="Directory" PhysicalLocation="Addons" VirtualPath="Core" />
  <MappingEntry LocationType="File" PhysicalLocation="Addons\Content" VirtualPath="Core" />
  <Import Path="C:\FS\F\Xlive\DLC\4d5308d2\00000002\FileLocator.config" />

I do not have lines 1 and 2 on my .config file, so I would suggest deleting them. But always make a backup in case it does not work!

2) If the DLC is greyed out in the FTK, it means that you have already brought the content. If you have multiple accounts, or previous accounts, make sure there is no clash between DLC.

You probably shouldn't have anything in %appdata%\Local\Microsoft\Xlive\DLC\, because according to your FlightLocator.config your DLC folder is actually located at C:\FS\F\Xlive\DLC\4d5308d2\00000002

My guess is that this is related to the multiplayer preview only.  You might be able to work around it by deleting the multiplayer previews, and installing the content via the toolkit.  I'm starting to suspect this problem has existed for a while, but no one noticed it until the new version.

I'm not sure if there is a way for me to be able to detect whether you have the multiplayer preview of the content or not.  I think that information is encoded into the license (.lic) of the DLC, which is encoded into a format that is not readable.

Hi Folks

Steve -

As you say, issue may have existed for a while.

Kavinda -

Do you mean "GFWLive.exe",

the shortcut labelled "Games for Windows Marketplace" ?

When I launch it, it gives a -

Connection error.

Can't start the program. There may be a problem with your

Internet connection or the LIVE service.

Troubleshoot - Network diags, passes ok.

Nor is it a BITS, Firewall, or DNS issue.

Does it still work for anyone ?

Yes, that is what I mean....but it works for me, no problems here. :( In fact, no one should have problems with it. You need it to run alongside Flight.

OK. You may need to uninstall the program in Control Panel (just GFWL) and then go to %appdata%Local\Microsoft\GFWLive and delete this folder. This will remove GFWL completely from your PC.

Reboot and then re install the program from here

You should now be able to regain access to the GFWL Client. Login and check that the details under the "Settings" tab is correct.

I just launched the Marketplace client without a problem, but... all the DLC is marked as "Download", meaning it is available for download, instead of "Uninstall", meaning it is installed. Except for the Base Module, which is marked "Play - Uninstall".

Perhaps this is the result of using Steve's Addon Manager?

Best regards.

Luis

Luis, it does the same for me, but I doubt it is related to the toolkit.

I also had to uninstall the old client and download the special one from xbox.com.  I am pretty sure the one that gets installed with Flight is the old one from before they shut the marketplace down.  I think they had to update and re-release it so that it didn't try to connect to the marketplace, but apparently they forgot to up the version number so that it would properly uninstall the older one...

This happened to me also, just 'redownload' (it doesn't actually dl anything) and it will show up I think, atleast that's what worked for me

Yep, deleting via GfWL and reinstalling via Toolkit did it.

Thanks for the help.

That should have solved the problem with Logging on to GFWL. It isn't Steve's fault, its the uninformed update to the GFWL Client by Microsoft. By default, Microsoft Flight comes with the 2012 release of the GFWL Client and it doesn't automatically update. So I guess that everyone needs to update their GFWL Client.

@basys: You are getting the Internet Connection error because your GFWL Client has not been updated since Microsoft Flight was installed. But this problem is not completely solved. I think you may need to do a full reinstall of your DLC. For that to begin could you provide us with a screenshot of your GFWL Client which shows the DLC you have downloaded i.e. the "Downloads" Tab? Also could you provide a screenshot of the Flight Addon Manager?

Hi Folks

Cheers Kavinda.

Yep I should have updated GFWL when I looked at it last week.

Now having done so,

GFWL Marketplace displays correctly,

and Marketplace lists all my purchased DLC.

However,

above didn't rectify my original issue,

whereby some DLC Preview aircraft

are no longer visible in my Hangar.

e.g.

DLC Preview Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero

Tried removing ALL addons via FTK.

DLC Preview Zero didn't show up.

Then from within Marketplace,

deleted the Zero, then re-downloaded it.

DLC Preview Zero didn't show up.

Reinstalled the Zero's addon repaint via FTK.

DLC Preview Zero didn't show up.

Reinstalled all remaining addons via FTK.

DLC Preview Zero didn't show up.

Does anyone have the DLC Preview Zero installed ?

Does it show up in your Hangar ?

Or, is it missing for you also ?

Cheers
