Active Sky 2012+P3D+Vatsim

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Is anyone running the new updated Active Sky 2012 that is compatible with P3D? Not sure if I'm one of the rare ones but some how I managed to get P3D and vatsim working a few months ago. Only thing missing is the weather. Vatsim fails to inject the weather into P3D. I was wondering if active sky will solve this problem, I just don't want to spend the $$ to find out it doesn't solve the problem. Thanks guys I enjoy the P3D forum here!

Hi,

yes, AS2012 SP2 works beautifully with P3D v1.4 and it's installer is P3D-aware.

As a matter of fact I notice even more smoothness (no stuttering at all) during complex weather situations and updates than I had with FSx Gold.

Although I find the Weather Themes in P3D sufficient for my flights (because both graphically and also in terms of effects they feel / look better than those of FSX), I couldn't resist using AS2012 to get great RWW into the simulation.

Main Simulation Rig:

Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti, 1 TB & 500 GB M.2 nvme drives, Win11.

Glider pilot since October 1980...

Avid simmer since 1992...

I use AS2012 with P3D in the Vatsim network, but for personal choice, I get AS2012 to use real world weather and not Vatsim weather. Every now and then the Vatsim weather engine goes down and you get no updates, but AS2012 works really well and it has enough options for any type of flying you wish to do.

I got one of the other instructors at our flight school turned on to P3D, built a computer for him last month finally went P3D this weekend, maybe I can get him into Vatsim soon.

AS2012 has a weather map function and a flight planner, make sure you use the planner so it locks the weather for your arrival and gives you greater realism.

There are one good settings posted in the forum depending on the kind of flying you wish to o.

Great fun.
