Cameras/Camcorders vs. Avionics

Recommended Posts

Guest

Hi everyone, In a few weeks, I'll be heading on a United Airlines 733 and A320 down to Florida, and like every other aviation enthusiast, I would love to take pictures inside the plane and maybe videotape takeoff through my window. So in light of cell phone use prohibitions on airplanes, is there any chance that my camcorders or digital camera may be a problem for the aircraft's systems? Thank you very much for any replies in advance.Regards,Canadian Hawk.

Hi,besides any "liability" problem with the company in using an electronic device during takeoff/landing, since they make a public announcement not to use one, I can also tell you that I've successfuly taped these moments several time, from the cabin and in the cockpit. Now I'm not a electronics and radiation specialist, but I suspect that any device compliant with the FCC regulation (which all are if sold in north america), shouldn't pose a problem as far as radio emissions are concerns. If not, this would mean that more powerfull radio sources from the outside, or even from the inside itself, would affect the onboard computers, and I suspect this is all shielded.Just my opinion.
