April 4, 201313 yr From a 24" WS to a 27" monitor and it's vastly improved my fps and the whole flightsim experience. Using TRackIR is also working sweeter too. Seems to me that 27" is the way to go. Any other views? George T
April 4, 201313 yr That is weird. It should be the same, if the resolution hasn't changed. Simmo W, Melbourne, Ozhttp://www.youtube.com/user/id5556
April 5, 201313 yr does not sound right to me. If the resolution lower possibly get fps, but that something a tech person could answer.
April 5, 201313 yr Nope, can't see how that would happen. Well...... I can see how you might have an apparent improvement, if for instance your card was driving your previous monitor at an incorrect refresh rate or something. And as was mentioned, its possible also to have a bigger monitor with the same or lower resolution as a smaller one......... We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... April 5, 201313 yr Technically speaking, the only way you would see better FPS changing from 24" to 27" would be if the 24" display has a higher resolution. (Highly unlikely) Run FSMark on both monitors and you will see that what you are experiencing is most likely placebo. Although, your new display may have some interlace method that make lower frame rates appear to be smoother/higher than the actually are.
April 5, 201313 yr What's the maximum Hertz on the monitor? I literally just got the ASUS VG278HE 27" 144hz, I am noticing smoother movement but not any significant difference in the frames.

It's the most likely explanation yes, but my instinct is to give it a good hard look rather than just dismiss it outright. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... April 5, 201313 yr I have a view lol if there was an issue with the original monitor old - tired unnoticeable issues this could be very true when going to a new monitor that's running the way it should be, not feeling comfy with my dell 27" so when I get a new 30" I'll bet it will make a difference, just an fyi bought a new yoke recently and now noticing perfect view changing and smoothness which was an issue as my old yoke got older - went from ch yoke to a new Saitek pro Cessna yoke. April 5, 201313 yr It's very possible, but probably not the actual "FPS" inside the sim, but most likely the response time of the monitor that increased. Read up on it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Response_time_(technology)

April 5, 201313 yr Author The new 'BenQ' monitor is using the same display as the 1 year old only, 24". I can only surmise that the larger screen means that there is more room for the display resulting in higher frame rates. The smaller one by the way was a 'Hanns-G' 24" both wide screen of course.
