Optimal settings for ATI users with FSX - Great Results!

Recommended Posts

Hello guys, I watched a lot of videos, tried different tweaks and

I still get low fps  :(  I would really appreciate a detailed step-by-step guide on how to set my fsx graphics, modify .cfg file and set the catalyst control center for best fsx performance on my computer ... Here are my specs:

AMD RadeonHD7550M 1GB

Intel Core i5Processor 2.6 GHz

Hard Drive Capacity: 640 GB

6 GB RAM

Windows 7 64-bit

Installed addons: PMDG737, FTX global, FlyTampa Dubai + planning to install REX4

CCC settings: Couldn't attach a screenshot but I followed what's written here

I have quite a few things to try at home.  I haven't played around with my graphics settings yet as I just installed fsx with orbx addons.

I'm running eyefinity setup with crossfire 6950's.  I'll set widescreen to true, and disable the crossfire configuration and try some of these changes.  Looking forward to it.  I've gone through this whole thread and I won't lie my head is spinning a bit.

Well on a mid range Laptop, PMDG with payware scenery is really tough. Almost nothing you can do about it except drop all your sliders to the far left as much as you can stand. That CPU and video card are pretty weak as far as FSX is concerned.

Even people with overclocked $1200 quadcore desktops with high end RAM and $400 video cards struggle to maintain good 30 locked fps with that plane at that kind of airport with the eyecandy cranked and clouds in the sky. FSX is a heavy sonofa_______ even today.

Hi I have been lookng thru this thread, made the adjustments suggested and I am getting 30fps locked so thanks for that.

I do have a few questions #1 in the CFG file I cant find MIMMEMMAX or the Vsync so I can change that. Do I add those lines?

#2 I have a R9 280x running 3 at 5670x1920 what I noticed is out the main (middle) monitor crisp bright graphics, out of the two side monitors I get enlarged (stretched) graphics that are dull in color and not as sharp. Has anyone noticed this and know how or if this can be fixed? If I run in non wide view mode my cockpit loses a little rez and is very large but the scenery is crisp and bright and not stretched

#3 I have 4 monitors 3 in a span and 1 up above when I run FSX the 4th monitor turns black I would like to be able to put gauges up there does anyone know how to do that?

Thanks in advance

Al.

#1. Ya you have to add them yourself.

#2. I don't know the answer. Is that eyefinity? I know with three screens the edges of the outsside monitor will stretch.

... He is using a zoom of 1.0 and wideview aspect=true setting but the deal is that at 1.0 zoom you have less stretching on the edges.

#3. This will be the same question regardless of card brand and you might want to research that. I only have a single screen. In the video I posted above... Is he doing kind of what you are looking for?

So I've followed the guide, and overclocked the cpu to 4.4ghz.  The game runs freaking great!!  Got OpusFSX going and the only option I haven't tried turning on yet is cloud density to high, I know it will kill the FPS I'm sure....but on medium it looks fantastic to me.

As of right now the game is running and looking great.  Thanks so much for the info!

This is à intersting tread , shall give it à go i have always liked the amd Colors.

Have some 290 and 290X that à gone run in Dazz cloudtest can compare with à Titan and 670.

Iam not framilar with Radeon PRO à need some help with base settings.

I think this is closer than amd vs Intel CPU .

If the 290 is in the middle of à 680 and 780 à change to Amd in the sim.)

I'd say AMD's 4xSS looks similar to 4xSGSS (and 8xSS similar to 8xSGSS)

Thanks Dazz , have played with a Sapphire 290 Tri-X OC learning the behaor of the card.

Hope that i have time to install Fsx on a new sim disk not want to have Fsx on the bench disk.

When running your cloud test a begin with the Old evga 670 4gb as referens.

Then the Titan and 290, shall be very intersting

Very good results Hasse, thanks for sharing!

The GPUMark2 run @ 8xSS was on stock clocks?

If it was, adding overclock and the Shader 3.0 mod would prolly net you some 20 - 22FPS, and a 290x would hit 25 plus FPS which is pretty awesome

Yes, it was stock 1000/1300.

The card is really good , seems that AMD have something here , i have cards to compare with for example a good Titan that do 1400/1900 watercooled that not all 780TI do.

I think a gone run this instead of the Titan in the Sim!!!!

Eager to see how it stacks up against that Titan or 780Ti

I did a test one year ago with the Titan Std clock and OC up to 1200mhz in GPUMark the result was not over 40fps someting like 39.8 overclocked.

Its not easy to swap to the titan have it setup for extreme OC, i shall do a new test when iam ready.

No worries man. Leave that extreme OC setup alone, there's xxxxx's cloud tests with a Titan anyway
