Bummer on the QW 75...

The download for Airbus X states that P3D is part of the installler, so I guess we can answer that question.

Yes, I have that one. It includes an installer P3D-aware :-)  Also runs great on this sim ;-)

I took the plunge as well.

Welcome !!! ;-)

Just a few quick notes from my own experience...

1) Do yourself a favour and buy the excellent "Estonian Migration Tool" - EMT. Using EMT I was able to get a few old great add-ons I had from my FSX times running beautifully in P3D :-)

When I installed P3D there was no trace of FSX on my system. I tookcare to delete any footprints of history... I keep the Virtual FSX install active all of the time except when installing stuff that is P3D-aware, like AS2012 SP2 or the iFly 737 NG for P3D, the Aerosoft DR-400 and Airbus X Extended.

2) After many experimentation with my graphic settings I found that the best combination is what you may find depicted in the attached pictures. I use Nvidia Inspector (v 1.9.7.1) and my present Nvidia drivers are 314.22 WHQL. I set through NI:

- AI Mode: Override Any Application Setting

- AI Setting: 4xS [Combined: 1x2 SS + 2x MS (D3D only)]

- AI TS: 2x Sparse Grid Supersampling

- Nvidia Predefined FXAA Usage: Disallowed

- Anisotropic Filtering mode: User-defined / Off

- AF Setting: 16x

- Texture filtering (all three entries): Off

- Texture filtering LOD bias: 0.000

- Texture filtering Negative LOD bias: Clamp

- Texture filtering quality: High quality

- Texture filtering trilinear opt: Off

- Maximum pre-rendered frames: 1

- Multi-display: Single display performance mode

- Power management mode: Prefer maximum performance

- Vertical Sync: Use the 3D application setting

I have FPS at unlimited in the game, AF at trilinear (but this will have no effect) and AA not selected.

Thanks guys, I went ahead and bought all the Prepar3D licenses for all my add-ons and the converter tool. Just waiting for some money to come through, then I'll be buying PREPAR.

Well without running any addons at all, I already received a crash/fatal error. My flight stick settings are all kinds of jacked up as well. Upon entering the sim, I release the parking brake, and the aircraft (doesn't matter which one) kicks off full-throttle and does donuts on the runway. I have to constantly go back and forth into the settings panel to recalibrate them.

Suffice to say, I'm none too impressed thus far. I'll keep kicking around in it though.

Hmmm, sorry to know about that :-(

I'm not at home right now, but I'll give a look at your log when I can.

If you're on Win 7 64 bit, have you installed this MS fix?

MicrosoftFixit50496.msi ?

The one thing that annoys me the absolute most about FSX is how autogen buildings and objects just pop up across the scenery as you are flying low and fast (example - 737 doing 250 at 2000 ft). That is the single thing that most detracts from the sense of realism.

Do you still get those popups in P3D?

Another question - does FSUIPC work with P3D?

@foibles:

1) Yes, depending on your LOD settings, but so does my other sim - Dcs World, and x-plane10, etc...

2) Yes, FSUIPC has a P3D-aware instraller :-)
