ZGSD Airport Not in The Database

Recommended Posts

Thanks, obviously I did it almost right up to now. However, the airport looks somehow like a moving target as it still seems to be under construction. Due to my present work load I only can continue next weekend. I'll post a picture here but you shouldn’t expect a "product" as the result will be somehow a compromise. You may want to PM me your mail address in order to get the files. As I said, I'm no scenery designer and try to do the best usually with all those elevated, sunken and misplaced airports in MS's world. Sometimes there are lovely places or quite dangerous ones which are looking terrible because of the standard airport background being nothing but a too big rectangle in the landscape.

However, to come back to the relationship with PMDG's NGX: As far as I can remember, the structure of the text files feeding the FMC is somewhere explained here in the forum. You'll need to work with a text editor in order to finally find the airport therein.

Axel

Alright! I truly understand. As you advise I`m already started working on the ADE and updating my home airport SBGO. Looking good so far. I`ll use the default B738 for this route.

I`ll PM you.

Thanks,

Thiago

Okay, I did it now. Please PM me in order to get the files. The following picture shows how it looks like now (even if some scenery features are not original FSX).

A brief remark: I just uploaded a brushed-up version to the AVSIM library. It includes not only all published taxiways but approach lighting, taxisigns (unfortunately the charts available for me where incomplete), moving jetways etc. Both ILS and the published COM frequencies are part of the package. However, I only used default buildings.

Axel

Ok, I`ll be in the lookout at Avsim. Where you able to add the airport in the FMC of the PMDG?

I did remodel of the ZJHK. Looks nice though. Can I send to you so you can tell me what else could I improve?

Thanks,

It's still in the files. Mine are based on "AIRAC Cycle 1209 (23/AUG/2012 - 19/SEP/2012) - Rev.1". Not really new (I don't fly online and like to have rather those airports included that I can find in the sim). Take a text editor and have a look into the files '"wpnavapt.txt" and "airports.dat" both in the folder " .\PMDG\NavData. The second one includes the ARP which seems to be shifted to NE for about 300m (in runway direction).

wpnavapt.txt:

ZHUHAI/SANAO            ZGSD05 13124047 21.995556 113.364620110.1004700019
ZHUHAI/SANAO            ZGSD23 13124227 22.021100 113.392014108.3022700018

airports.dat:

ZGSD 22.008333 113.378333

wpnavapt.txt shows (# of digits):

Name(24);ICAO(4);Rwy(3);lenght(5);heading(3);LAT(3.6);LON(4.6);ILS-frequ(3.2);ILS-LOC direction(3);Rwy starting elevation(5)

If I want to find out the proper data as being implemented in my FSX I run a free tool of Pete Dowson (yes the guy who makes FSUIPC) called "MakeRunway" (http://fsuipc.simflight.com/beta/MakeRwys.zip). One of the results is a file named "runway.xml" where you can find all what you need to compile the data for each FS-airport. It can be read by using a text editor or Excel, too.

EDIT: Please be aware that you should sort in any additional data sets by LAT and LON as elsewhere you might get unexpected effects.

Axel

Kinda bumping this post, but I am working on all the missing airports in FSX. Check them out at captainwealcatch.weebly.com

1.  Full names in the PMDG forums please.

2.  Why are you bumping this post?  Is this an advertisement?

3.  Navigation data is not provided by PMDG.

I didn't find anything like "ARPT_RWY.dat" however, so I suppose them not necessary in my case.

For the SIDSTARS data. I found these from AIRAC Cycle 1612.Tested on MSFS2020 PMDG 737-800, works fine, hope can be of help. (Attached to the last)

BTW, I actually did a digging in the "wpNavAID.txt" and found these lines that could be worthy of note.

I believe they need to be added in the "wpNavAID.txt" as well.
