Piedmont 737-400: the oddball livery

Featured Replies

Always liked this red version (USAir hybrid?) better than the blue, but had to wait a long, long time to get it. Thanks to Colin Lowe!

Love that livery.  Great shots, looks very real!

Classy pilots too.

I was in the Air Force working in the control tower the day we found out that they were merging with USAir.  We were so bumbed out.  You could always count on Piedmont pilots helping and being receptive.  USAir pilots were....less receptive and at times combative.  Still, after the merger you could tell which were which and that was nice.

I flew for Piedmont.  I prefer the blue livery.

The best airline ever!  When I heard of the merger I assumed we were buying USAir.  Wrong.

You can still tell. Haha.

Where were you based, Jerry? If you don't mind me asking.

The red paint was cool, but not my favorite.  The 80's blue is still my favorite livery ever.  I also kind of like the US Air "three shades of rust" livery.

I have a cousin that worked in the operations department for Piedmont.  He loved his job.  Took early retirement at the merge.

Zach,

Sorry, I thought I answered your question hours ago...don't know what happened...oh the computer age.

I flew out of Dayton and occasionally Baltimore.  I liked Dayton, and I loved Piedmont.

When I walked into ops people stood up and were polite.  Later, when I would walk into USAir ops you'd have trouble finding someone to help you...by doing their job.

I'm retired now and all I fly is Xplane.

Have a good day.
