April 28, 201313 yr Well that's good for Europe flyers, but I'm a snobby USA only pilot. (It's the same in FSX). I'll have to check those out. However before I really start to invest in XP I want to stop getting OOMs (x86) and want my A36 to work in x64. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

You should visit Europe, we have some fantastic terrain
April 28, 201313 yr Alright. The ones I've seen are done poorly... but I'll check again. I know I did see a SFO scenery that looked pretty good. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

Hey Ryan, I just had a look at, and installed each of the airports you mentioned. They all look about equal to payware quality stuff for MSFS. There are a TONNE of US airports for free. Installation is as simple as moving the file into the custom folder. I really recommend spending a bit of time hand picking some airports - I just installed Boston and couldn't believe it wasn't payware. fully HDR enabled with high res textures and a tonne of static aircraft. The purchasing of XP10 seems like a better idea every day!
April 28, 201313 yr I found KBOS and KMIA that looked like decent payware. At simmarket the majority of their stuff is non USA based scenery. At the .org I'm seeing a total of 9 airports in the US that are large... and one small one. The freeware ones - well I've got all the socal ones for my flying. For freeware they're fine too... they're equivalent to ADEX sceneries for FSX. I guess what I'm getting at is I WISH stock XP had generic buildings at all airports, like FSX. That would be a lot nicer.... and more stock USA airports like the recent KATL in the beta patch would be cool too. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
April 28, 201313 yr Ryan et al, Sounds like perhaps THE major weakness in XP10 is the lack of lots and lots of US airports built to a adequate level as FSX has, yes? If so, then there is a huge opportunity to jettison adoption of XP10 by addressing that need. What do you think? A single addon that upgrade US & World airports of a certain size or importance to a decent basic level. This alone could fuel bigtime interest in XP10+ methinks. Put differently, I'd buy XP 64 bit today and that airport add-on worth what, $150-$200? I'd do it in a heartbeat at that price, and would likely pay more. Sounds like many have already been done, and one could contact the individual freeware builders perhaps, and compile it all in a new well made installer. April 28, 201313 yr It would be handy. But unfortunately a lot of the "hard core" XPers say that they don't feel the need to simulate taxiing because its not part of flying. They're obviously not real pilots. Those little Orbx airports create an incredible sense of atmosphere. Even the stock FSX airports with generic buildings can help create that feeling. This is what XP lacks. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

This is what XP lacks. I've spent the afternoon installing a ludicrous amount of airports and testing them. I've now got scenery for pretty much anywhere I'll go! I started at the terminal, started my jet, using the 777 addons loaded passengers (with sounds effects etc), got clearance, taxied to the runway...Honestly, there is nothing I am missing from FSX, even traffic now I have the newly released traffic addon (which is fantastic).

This is what XP lacks. Well then, the work is very straightforward for someone who wanted to do this. If Laminar Research is paying attention I'm thinking they should really dedicate to solving this issue as it will could pay handsomely. After addressing this glaring need I can see the doors opening for not only a flood of FSX users who are bothered by this deficit in XP and also bothered by FSX's old code prone to memory limits (sure, you will experience no OOMs if you adjust accordingly to prevent it), but as well the 3PD teams will find XP10+ the place to start developing for. What I love about this idea is that it is a forward-looking core engine w/ better exploitation of parallelism, memory, graphic APIs, and so forth. LR should be the entity that develops this so that it is assured of running in their 3 chosen OS'. XP11 could incorporate this. I'd love to start investing in a sim w/ a longer future--haven't bought a single add-on for FSX since becoming aware XP is getting close to a suitable alternate to FSX. Get the Global Airports package out there and it's time to jump on board. April 29, 201313 yr I agree the growth possibilities for XP is highly encouraging.
