Advice for new Flight Stick Please

My old Logitech Extreme 3D Pro is at the end of it's lifetime and makes me airsick on every ride.
So I'm contemplating about a new stick. I was researching the market and am not quiet sure, what to buy.

King of the hill seems to be the Thrustmaster Warthog Flight Stick. It has magnetic sensors
(Hall Effect) which are way more precise than conventional potentiometers and live much longer.
What I don't like is that you can't twist the stick for rudder input (dont want to have use
pedals all the time) and the price is pretty steep too.

And there is the X52 Pro Control System by Saitek. Here the stick also has Hall Sensors and
it can be twisted. But it seems to be less accurate than the Thrustmaster Stick.

So I'm not sure, if I should ditch my twist requirement and go for the Thrustmaster or
accept less accuracy and go for the X52 Pro.

What do you think? Or are there any other alternatives for accurate sticks with non contact sensors (Hall)?

Hi Gottfried, it mainly depends on your budget. I have owned the Saitek X52 pro and while it is an OK stick with the ability to offer many profiles, IMO it's by no means a hi end product. If you truly wanted an exceptional alloy controller, then I would highly recommend the Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog. It's in a different league to many of it's competitiors, but then again it's not cheap. I guess at the end of the day you have to decide whether you want to drive a Mini or a Porsche :wink:

I agree with the Warthog.  At the moment I am using a very simple and standard joystick as it does the job, but if I was going to get something, I would make sure I save up enough to buy the best and not worrying about upgrading later.

 

But if you're happy with just anything standard, Microsoft Sidewinders (from my experience) have been exceptional in terms of quality.  It's a modest joystick and it did the job very very well for something like 10 or more years for me.
