run time Error 5

Recommended Posts

I purchased RC4 program and tried to run it after install.
When I load a flight plan, "run time  Error 5 invalid procedure call or argument"
pop up.
I am using windows 7.
I tried to find the solution via AVSIM forum but I can't fix this issue.

Please advise me.

Do you have the latest version of rc4, which is 4.3.3845?

If not you have to contact JD for it

Do you have the latest fsuipc installed (fsx 4.88 and fs9 3.999z1)?

http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66139-updated-modules/

Do you have the lates makerunways (v4.64)?

http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66136-useful-additional-programs/

Then run makerunways (you must copied it into your main fs folder)

After that run the "rebuild scenery db"

Hopes this helps

are you running a windows operating system like Japanese, Chinese, Korean, or other double byte character set (DBCS) languages? rc doesn't run on DBCS versions of windows, sorry.

if you don't have access to a non-DBCS language version of windows, let me know, and i'll refund your money

One common error is some new users try to put an FMC formatted flightplan instead of a standard FS9 or FSX file into it.

There is also a problem with recent exports from Flight Sim Commander. a planner product.

Otherwise install the updates to FSUIPC and makerwys.exe as starter suggested and then run the scenery rebuild again.

Insure also that you have followed the correct scenery update procedure for either where RC and FS are on the same PC or where RC is on a WideFS network client to an FS network host.

jd covered the Windows language issue including where the decimal point in Win must be a period symbol, not a comma.

If you like, open your flight plan in a text editor and paste it in a reply here.

Please state your FS version.

Many many thanks for your advice.

I don't have  DBCS languages.

I tried John's advice, but still facing same error 5.

My FS version is 10.0.61472.0

I use default FSX's flight planner.

My addon is Traffic360, Rex, FS captain.

Does Traffic360 cause the error?

I have no idea.

The below is the text version of the flight plan causing error 5 generated by the FS flight planner.

Need your help!

Also, my FSX is located at  C:\FSX.

RC4 is at C:\

Are these location can cause this error?

I have FS9 but 2P2 is in there (Washington Island airport at Washington, Wisconsin) and makes it into the RC databases.

Your flightplan from Washington-Dulles to Washington Island, WI, has no waypoints between departure and destination, a very long distance at about 700 sm direct.

I could not load your xml FS9 plan into RC either.

Try putting in at least one waypoint between departure and destination, maybe midway. Try using a VOR route for this type.

Hi,

When you installed it, did you right click it and choose "run as admin", with UAC off, av off and windows defender off?

Are you running FSX and rc4 as admin? (right click icon, choose properties, compatability and check "run as admin" and press apply)

I do not have FSX but here is your plan built by FSBuild 2.4 which loaded into RC4.3845:

             </ICAO>
        </ATCWaypoint>
        <ATCWaypoint id="FDK">

The only differences I see is that FSB uses a different Windows encoding which puts a degree sign in instead of the asterisk bit that still should work. I am on Win XP by the way. You are on UTF-8. Also for FSX FSB does not export the crossing altitudes but it does for the FS9 format I think.

See if you can copy this plan into wordpad and save it as a DOS .txt file type renaming it to KDCA-KIAD.pln. Then see if RC loads it.

Ronzie,

Thank you for your advice.

I tried your advice, but still I get same error 5.

Uhmmmm.

This is tough to solve.

I want to fly with RC 4. It's a great ATC program.

was this .pln made in fsx? there is stuff in there that I've not seen before.

will you try to load a .pln from the tutorials directory? I want to eliminate whether this is a fs9/fsx .pln problem, or an rc problem

Ron,

I was able to copy your plan into NotePad and save it as a plan. It then loaded into RC4.3 without problem.

Ken, you never confirmed what versions of FSUIPC4 you have installed. Please advise the version number. You will need to install a new version in any case because of the security breach in the certificate that FSUIPC4 uses. See here for details.

JD,

What is  the tutorials directory means?

I used FSX light planner to create FPL I sent you.

Ray,

Thank you for your coming.

My  FSUIPC4 is ver 4.8.8.0

Right now, when I start my FSX application, I see error "Error loading GPS_Engine, The flight plan will not be used.".

It seems that my entire FSX system is getting problem.

I will need to reinstall my fsx when I go back my home in this weekend.

Ray,

Ken, you need to update to 4.9 but that isn't the reason for the error you report. I think there are some damaged files in your FSX installation. You should uninstall and reinstall FSX.

The tutorials are flight plans designed to teach you how RC4 works. It's a good idea to fly them once you have FSX running without problem.
