On my system, with everything max'ed---HDR on, with the exceptions of no balloons and forest fires, and no frigates.

 

Running 64 bit.

 

OMG! This simulator is smooooooooooooooth in all animations, textures crisp, view 100 miles out clear as a bell, no CTD, no OOM. OMG! This is fantastic. I can't remember being so excited with a flight simulator right out of the 'wrapper', so to speak!

 

I would say that the GLOBAL scenery as per FSX, is equal to 3/4 any ORBX product. It is THAT good! Oh yeah...this is going to be ordered as soon as I can pull myself away from the dang DEMO, lol. Curses on the 15 minute joystick (ROTFLMBO! Curses!)

 

Seriously for a moment, I can't more highly enough recommend that anybody that loves FSX at near full max...and can USE it at near full max...will absolutely LOVE XP10:21 and higher. I can't see what ANYBODY's objection coming from FSX, would be with this product...and man...I was no easy 'pushover'...lol.

 

Austin...great work...and the 64 bit .exe is working flawlessly on my W7 64 bit Ultimate O.S. I don't know what the impact is of having also 12 GB of 1600 MHz RAM for the system to use, but I can try to relate to anybody that has a Android smart phone. Going from FSX at full max on my system, would be called Ice Cream Sandwich. Running XP10 was like my upgrading my 'phone' to JellyBean 4.2.2. THAT is how smooth the animation is being pumped out by a modern and current GTX 680.

 

Austin, I have to get back to the demo...and do incredible touch and go's via sunset and night approaches. HOLY Sh*t but is this good! You just acquired a new XP10 groupie.....I'm right on board...lol. Now...back to the DEMO, until my full release can get into my hands....

 

Post Edit: Your solution to freeways, roadways, vehicles---puts EVERYBODY to shame. The concrete buttresses along ridge and hill lines is amazing. The roads are totally 3D and absolutely believable. Not bad for stock in-simulator scenery. I'd say that your Global scenery is a combination of UTX/GTX on steroids, and about 60 percent to 75 percent ORBX quality content at full settings. ORBX is stand-alone in the FSX world, and you have done quite an admirable job towards a great VFR flight experience. Your water and its animation is much more believable than the best of FSX. My opinion.Well done.

I just came back here sort of 'bloggish' to say that in flying around the mountains near Seattle, already does XP10 'in-house' render such things as dynamic shadows via sun angle, etc, that I have had to spend hundreds of add-on dollars for FSX, such as Shade, and enviroment programs such as REX Extreme for their ground and water textures.

The road systems are the finest I have ever seen in a flight simulator. You believe they are real, and not just grey lines spread about. The mountains (again in my view...) are as pleasing to the eye with full max settings (and my system specs can handle it...) as anything else I have purchased in FSX. I can't wait to load up a XP10 3rd party add-on. I mean..if just the stock GLOBAL looks good at full rez out of the 'box'...I have to wonder what 3rd party levels will be enhanced. Yeah..as you can tell, I think this is the way to go to utilize modern hardware, and O.S's. This product is being actively coded in real-time and tweaked beyond your purchase date. No brainer.....

Blame it on 64 bit as that has taken it's toll on the development process and third party devs have been taken hostage sort of. They can't finalize their wares until 64 bit coding is foolproof. I suspect when that happens, things will begin to move at a quicker pace as third party devs release their 64 bit compatible addons.

 

Some pretty amazing things should happen within the next few months. This is a whole new ball game!

Some people transitioning from FSX first see some of the things apparently lacking (in comparison), and then slowly discover the strong points of X-Plane, the things that keep them going (or not ) You, on the contrary, have had your first look pointed at some of the most impressive aspects, and that's definitely a good start.

Well, let me tell you what I do when there is a slight suspiscion that I could become bored with XP one day:

I fly an just a few meters over a highway by night with HDR on !!!

That's an absolute exhilerating experience, and after an hour I'm still gliding like crazy along the lively luminous snake, chosing the crossings at the last moment, following a train just passing by... and then I can come back to some more "serious" flight with the 777 or the 727.

What you say may be, but I wish to tell you what my four plus hours with the demo has enacted:

 

I can retire FINALLY, the FPS-mindset. I am so happy to finally see the performance I KNEW was in my system, but until XP10 64 bit, it was never utilized or produced on screen. I have the XP10 pretty well maxed out in all graphics, with HDR enabled, and this flight simulator is stunning! I have never seen the performance envelope that I have today. I let A.I. control the Baron from taxi, lift-off, and cruise around the mountains. I never ONCE dwelt on what my FPS performance was such as we do within FSX. It was just, absolutely life-like in movement, while the aircraft was at taxi, while it lifted off the runway, and while in the air. I went through all different atmospherics, and the rendering, let alone the special effects leave FSX in the year it was coded. For one thing, and this a true happening, XP10:21 has totally lifted the bar on what I now expect from my system, and from a flight simulator software package. It has seriously shown me the flaws and age of Microsoft's product. I guess, that is good for me, as well as a bummer...for I now have an A/B comparing of the two ...and quite frankly would expect much more from my next FSX session...and I now know it will in no way give me the performance, that the system that is running it....can offer. Sad day...but ....happy in that I have found another flight simulator that is modern, cranks out the performance...with a high-end system and its components driving it, and is drop-dead gorgeous to this user. I am satisfied with the package right now...so as you say..it is a work in progress...and I can ONLY imagine where Austin and his crew will take this. I am now completely onboard, and will start winding down my usage of FSX, as the performance differential between the two software packages, is not subtle, no...it's right in your face!

 

So, if anybody else is interested because of my reaction to it, I suggest that you first, before flying yourself, pick the Baron, and then let A.I. control the aircraft at KSEA. Sit back, with all the sliders max'ed as much as your system can address with smoothness..and sip a beer, drink a cup of coffee and be prepared to be amazed at the smoothness, the performance, and what your 64 bit enabled system can put out!

I have noted that the Air Traffic Control is not in the same league as FSX...yes...and that is true. But...if you are a VFR'er, or flight plan follower, it is a minor check mark in the negative, when the whole package is being fairly viewed. Bottom line, in my opinion, and we can only offer our individual ones...this simulator ROCKS for what I wish, what I want, and what level of immersion is required. Like I said, my almost (as everybody else using FSX) neurotic attachment to frames per second, is a non issue if you have a high-end system as most of us do, and it is now running XP10 64 bit. A non issue any longer..... In fact, I didn't ONCE bring up the information mask, on-screen to see what it actually was, lol. I didn't need to...for I was flying......and ain't that a hoot!

I would say that the GLOBAL scenery as per FSX, is equal to 3/4 any ORBX product. It is THAT good! Oh yeah...this is going to be ordered as soon as I can pull myself away from the dang DEMO, lol. Curses on the 15 minute joystick (ROTFLMBO! Curses!)

 

Seriously for a moment, I can't more highly enough recommend that anybody that loves FSX at near full max...and can USE it at near full max...will absolutely LOVE XP10:21 and higher. I can't see what ANYBODY's objection coming from FSX, would be with this product...and man...I was no easy 'pushover'...lol.

 

Austin...great work...and the 64 bit .exe is working flawlessly on my W7 64 bit Ultimate O.S. I don't know what the impact is of having also 12 GB of 1600 MHz RAM for the system to use, but I can try to relate to anybody that has a Android smart phone. Going from FSX at full max on my system, would be called Ice Cream Sandwich. Running XP10 was like my upgrading my 'phone' to JellyBean 4.2.2. THAT is how smooth the animation is being pumped out by a modern and current GTX 680.

 

Austin, I have to get back to the demo...and do incredible touch and go's via sunset and night approaches. HOLY Sh*t but is this good! You just acquired a new XP10 groupie.....I'm right on board...lol. Now...back to the DEMO, until my full release can get into my hands....

 

Post Edit: Your solution to freeways, roadways, vehicles---puts EVERYBODY to shame. The concrete buttresses along ridge and hill lines is amazing. The roads are totally 3D and absolutely believable. Not bad for stock in-simulator scenery. I'd say that your Global scenery is a combination of UTX/GTX on steroids, and about 60 percent to 75 percent ORBX quality content at full settings. ORBX is stand-alone in the FSX world, and you have done quite an admirable job towards a great VFR flight experience. Your water and its animation is much more believable than the best of FSX. My opinion.Well done.
