I've added AI aircraft before so I am a bit disppointed that I don't seem to be doing this right this time round. Can someone say what I am missing out?

 

I am trying to add 787s to my AI traffic and downloaded the aircraft and flightplans from Unitedtrafficteam.com. For each airline I have the usual three txt files, Aircraft, Airport and Flightplans, and I compiled these with TTools, so I have the bgl files for each airline in the FS9/scenery/world/scenery folder. I installed the aircraft - done that a thousand times, so I am sure I did that OK (checked with ACA2005 and the a/c all show fine)....

 

But no aircraft at airports. For instance:

 

VECC,1/11:30:00,@1/13:40:00,400,F,701

 

I restart FS, go to VECC, Monday (or is '1' a Sunday? No matter, tried both) at 11.30am. Not a Dreamliner in sight. Similarly with the other airports and airlines.

 

Am I being dense and missing something obvious?

Martin, my usual trick is to forget that TTools works on UTC/GMT, not local times. VECC local is GMT+5.  1130z will be 1630 local at VECC.

Hi,

I only use the UTT flighplan for the Qatar Airways 787, but the plane appears right as it should. So this UTT flightplan should be o.k.

No, nothing, at any time or any airport. I removed all my other traffic files temporarily so that it is clear if a 787 is at the airport, but all the gates are quite empty. VECC is not a large airport, so it's easy to spot an aircraft of the size of a 787!

 

I guess I can only go back to the original txt files and try again...

Redid the traffic files from scratch.. put the sets of three text files in TTools folder and compiled them, so I get seven bgl files (seven airlines) in the 'usual folder'. Still nothing appears at the airports.

 

Am I not forgetting something? Doesn't something have to be added to any of the default fs9 files? Or is what I have done enough? I got A380s into my FS9 on the first shot, so heaven knows what is wrong here.. I don't recall that I did anything for the A380s other than I have done for the B787s

Well... ensure you have AI enabled in the sim for starters... 

Then swap one of your A380's lines into the 787 aircraft txt file, compile and see if it appears.

If yes, look deeply into the 787 aircraft.cfg

Yes, I have all my usual traffic. Am I looking at the right times? Maybe I am misinterpreting the data.. For instance, when should I search at airports here?

Stick with it, it will help you in days ahead.

It also has a handy Timetable function which analyses traffic files and tells you what's doing what at what airport.

The reason you are not seeing any 787 is that in those air india flight plans you downloaded from UTT, the name in the aircraft.txt file is not the same as the title= entry in the aircraft.cfg file.

 

If you use TTools to compile they must be identical.

Sorry then for labouring the point, I didn't see that in your original post.

If you've properly checked the integrity of the aircraft.cfg, and flightplans, (you did swap in another model to check didn't you?) then you simply have a parking problem.

You can easily check if the model parameters fit the AFCAD, and if yes, then you don't have enough parking of the right sort.

These are my entries for Air India (to use this as an example) in the aircarft.cfg file:

But no, hang on, that's not right, because the Air India flightplans only refer to AC#1. Maybe I could alter the flight plans to use AC#2 through to AC#6, to use all the planes installed? Like this, would this work OK (I just changed entries 2-6 from AC#1 each time)? Looks like that is how it was meant to be, as the six different aircraft registrations were already there -  I didn't change those myself.

OK, I did the above and ... my Dreamliners are there!! At least at VECC I get an Air India 787. I have to go there at 16.30, not 11.30, so thanks for that tip too.

 

Great work guys, many thanks for all the input - it was the mismatch between the aircraft.cfg file and the aircraft txt file used to compile the traffic bgl file that was the problem. Maybe someone should tell the guys at Unitedtrafficteam.com??

 

I also noticed something that in ten years of simming I have never seen before. The texture files were referenced in the aircraft.cfg file like this:

 

texture=AIC-Air India/VT-ANI

 

I changed this to:

 

texture=VT-ANI

 

and moved each texture folder out of the AIC-Air India subfiolder and into the main 787 aircraft folder. Probably totally unecessary, but it seems to work now anyway, so I shan't change it back. Is the original OK?
