Ant's Airplanes T-28D: what a great job!

Featured Replies

Hi Ray. Thanks. Good to hear from you too. After I posted the question here I found his e-mail address and sent him an e-mail. I have a 2d panel almost done for my own use and if I complete it I'll buy the plane as I like 2d panels plus vc's. Regards, Bob.

This is indeed a absolutely great product - and at a super price. The only thing I see on the Navy version (and this is a minor thing) is that on the upper wing, the NAVY logo is facing the wrong direction. In actuality most of the Navy T28s in the 1970's did not have the logo on the upper side of the wing at all - only the underside. I can't wait for the squadron specific repaints. Thanks for your great work Anthony!

Except when you see a picture of the actual airplane and see that's how it's been painted. There is a thread at Sim Outhouse with a picture of the plane in question.

Ahh, yes Meshman - I see that. However it was a non-standard paint. My grandparents lived next to Whiting NAS in Milton FL where Navy pilots first learned to fly these after completing Primary at Saufley. I went through Aviation Officer Candidate School in Pensacola and was comissioned as an Ensign in the 70's. I saw a lot of these although have no hours in type. I also looked back at my old photos and a booklet  on the North American T-28 Trojan written by Steve Ginter and see no logos like that. This in no way diminishes this great piece of work! The Ginter book BTW is an excellent reference for this bird. Many photos, schematics and historical information on the Trojan.

Hello Blaze

It could be your joystick input is not being read properly

There is a Diagnostic page on the Animation Manager 2D popup (shift+4). Select that and move your throttle and mixture from min to max and note the values. They should be from -16384 to +16384 (or close enough to those values). It may require adjustment with FSUIPC depending on how your FSUIPC is already setup.

Would also be helpful if you could provide some numbers on the Manifold Pressure you are getting at full throttle at sea level, 5000' and 10,000'.

Thanks Anthony and Barfly,

As suspected it was my fault a conflict with FSUIPC because I tried creating a new profile based on an existing one.  Once I deleted both of them out of the FSUIPC .ini I was able to generate a new T28 profile from scratch with complete control over the mixture setting.  Sorry to the OP for the sidebar I created on this thread but maybe it will help someone else.

Not at all! I'd forgotten to mention the fantastic animation manager interface, a real step forward and something I hope others will emulate. It's well-integrated, reliable and easy to use.

I could hope Anthony might be able to extend it some day to do more of the things that A2A Simulations does this way; it's a great approach to adding realism and context and configuration control outside the fiction of the VC.

Looks like a great aircraft, hadn´t heard of it before so mentioned it to my Dad who said it´s a pimped up Harvard, I guess he is right!  What a great price too, will pick it up on the weekend.

I wouldn't exactly call it a pimped up Harvard, but the T-28 was intended to be the replacement for the the Harvard/Texan.

My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.

I think your Dad was spot on except it should be Texan.  Kinda like a Lexus is a pimped up Kia.  The two are very different aircraft but both designed for military trained.

Hello Bob, long time no hear Buddy. Anthony has an email address in the PDF user manual. You can talk directly to him. [email protected] I think, but check the manual for accuracy.

Regards

Ray

Hi Ray. I did send him an e-mail and it was returned as undeliverable as I was blocked I guess by his ISP. Regards, Bob.

Bob, I would check that support email address again. I got through a couple of days ago and Anthony replied almost immediately.

Hi Ray. This is what I got when I tried sending him an e-mail:

Best regards, Bob.

Bob,

Well, that kind of response is no way to run a support shop. Hopefully, Anthony is monitoring this thread and will correct his end of the link.

I agree 100%. Bob.

May be something his ISP is doing because their spambot blockers see "too much traffic."
