Hi,

I am looking to get this

http://secure.simmarket.com/goflight-gf-mcp-advanced-autopilot-module.phtml

For my PMDG NGX and other planes.  The description says it is not compatible.  Could anyone comment?  Can this unit be controlled and assigned with FS commands via FSUIPC?

I am also looking at these :

http://secure.simmarket.com/goflight-gf-rp48-mouse.phtml

http://secure.simmarket.com/goflight-gf-46-multi-mode-display-module.phtml

or

http://secure.simmarket.com/goflight-gf-t8-2-8-toggle-switchindicator-module.phtml

It a sizeable chunk of changes.  I have never used Goflight equipment before and would like comments on reliability, ease of use etc.  Is there a how-to somewhere?

Thanks

Go flight is good.. and all those units are good except this one

GOFLIGHT - GF-MCP

Instead of that.. look at the GF-MCP Pro http://www.goflightinc.com/products/gf-mcp-pro-airliner-autopilot-module

And the go flight EFIS for the NGX737NG

For the prices of the GoFlight stuff, why not check out CPFlight? IMO it's better looking and better quality. Both their MCP and EFIS are compatible with the NGX. www.cpflight.com

I agree with Manny. GoFlight is good and the GF-MCP-Pro is a better choice than the GF-MCP.

Suggestions that might be helpful:
    1) Search in the PMDG737NGX forum on the word "Goflight".  You might also search the MSFSX forum too.
    2) Steve Munn has written two programs (one is in beta development) to interface GoFlight modules with the PMDG737NGX as well as other aircraft. Check his site: http://www.pollypot-software.org.uk/
    3) Check the GoFlight forum http://goflight.vanillaforums.com/

Thanks Kevin.  I agree that the CPflight units are very nice but the prices are way off my current budget!

Hi Manny,

Do you mean that the GF-MCP is a bad unit in term of functionality and reliability, or you say it's better to go with the PRO? I am looking for a versatile unit that can be used in other aircraft too.

Thanks

I would go with Opencockpits, their V3 MCP matches most of the big boys in features at half the price.

Also not a bad choice...again, IMO better looking and better quality in comparison to GoFlight. I can't believe they charge $550 for their MCP when for a little more you can get CPFlight and for little less you can get Opencockpits.

In defense of Goflight, North American companies have to charge more.

Yeah..Open Cockpit MCP looks nice.. Not sure why I didn't look at this when I bought my GF MCP Pro

I have a few Qs in regards to Open cockpit. (Apologize for slight deviation)

1) I am looking at their FMS 737 V3. Can I connect this via a secondary PC using Sim connect? I don't have anymore vga outputs left.. I already have 5 monitors (The 4th (G530) and 5th (19" touch screen) is via a VGA Switcher) + Three monitors 24" x 3 for my VC and outsside view)

2) Does Open Cockpit have a 737 Throttle? I didn't see a listing in their menu->Products but I saw some in their cockpit photos

1) You must have a Free VGA. My secondary PC's VGA connections were all used and I contemplated adding a third video card, but decided to use a USB-VGA adapter. Normally I hate USB-VGA adapters for FSX (buggy drivers), but since I use external CDU client screen programs (ifly/prosim) it really has no issues since it's just basic text, vice intense graphics.

2) Don't think they sell throttles, maybe in the past they partnered with someone.

Just reread your #1 and yes it can run off a networked PC as long as you have a compatible program.

I should have a free VGA out on the second PC...right? I have 5 monitors on the primary PC. I may add my old PC to the setup for the FMC (Open cockpit) If I can add it that way.   I just can't add any more VGA monitors to my Primary PC is all.

What program are you planning on using it with? That's the important question.

Hmm..Do I need a special program? I have no clue

Isn't Open cockpit something that works with FSX directly? and if using second PC, I connect to fsx via the sim connect.

The FMC is basically a Secondary Screen with some inputs. Cockpit Suites allow to run networked gauges. You can't drag an undocked screen unto a networked PC. If you connect it to your main FSX computer you could just undock the FMC screen(edit out the frame) and place it as normal secondary screen.
