May 7, 201313 yr I have found, that with my monitor at max brightness, and GAMMA at even 4.0, I can't see the plane's body, it being so darkly rendered. How can one brighten up the night so you can see detail, such as you can in night mode with FSX? Is this an HDR thing, or is it this dark at night in XPX in general?
May 7, 201313 yr I've noticed that too in 10.21, but can't really recall how it was exactly with HDR on or off when I had XP10 full version in my disk :-/ Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
May 7, 201313 yr Is this an HDR thing, or is it this dark at night in XPX in general? This is an X-Plane thing - it's a very dark night with very little ambient light available - even when the moon displays as full.
May 7, 201313 yr Yes, I noticed this recently too that I can barely see my aircraft at all at night. It should not be that dark, especially when there are clear skies. I hope they can increase the night brightness as a function of the moon phase.

Perhaps they can/will brighten things up via coding. It is truly way too dark, and breaks off some immersion factor. Other than this, it's been rock city with v10. I find that GAMMA had no visual effect from its stock 2.2, right up through 4.00 I saw no difference at all.

It should make a difference. Be careful not to boost gamma too much, the colors become washed out and you loose some contrast. I prefer a low gamma (1.8), and tune my monitor (or the nvidia driver) for more brightness/contrast. Yes the night is very dark, that's realistic with no moon, but not with full moon. You can see the silhouette of your plane against the lights in the background. Pascal
