EZDok and FacetracknoIR stops every few minutes

Featured Replies

I was previously using Freetrack with SimConnect interface to do headtracking in FSX. I saw a couple videos on YouTube with head shaking effects and nice camera views from EZDok, so I figured I'd do the switch and give a try to this nice add-on.

I installed EZDok and noticed I did not need to use SimConnect interface anymore, but I can simply use the trackIR interface from Freetrack to do head tracking through EZDok. So far so good. During a quick test flight, The headtracking stopped working. When I alt-tabbed, there was tons of windows with error message concerning an access violation in npClient.dll. I searched on forums and figure it was something buggy between Freetrack and EZdok and multiple persons suggested to switch to FaceTracknoIR. Someone made a module that uses the 3 IR LEDS to do the tracking instead of the facial features to do the tracking, which is much more precise, just like TrackIr and Freetrack do. It is also much more stable and works better in my opinion.

Switching to FacetrackNoIR was a good thing to do. Freetrack was riddled with bug and hasn't been developped since 2008, so it's a good thing I put this one behind. But even when using FacetrackNoIR, I still get frequent headtracking stop. After about 5-10 minutes in game, the tracking stops and resets to the center position. I can't use any of the EZDok features (middle mouse button and drag does not work to look around). If I alt-tab, kill EZDok and restart it, it still does not work. If I kill and restart the TrackIR.exe dummy from FaceTrackNoIR, it does not fix the issue. I need to kill both EZDok and and TrackIR.exe dummy, then restart them both, then I can use EZDok again and head tracking resumes.

I found dozens of thread with people having issues with FreeTrack and EZDok. I haven't seen much threads where people have issues with EZDok and FacetrackNoIR. I tried killing my antivirus and killing any other windows processes I do not use. Nothing solves my issue.

Anyone has a clue about what is going on here / suggestion about how to fix? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
