May 31, 201313 yr meh...perhaps in 2 years when it falls into the $200-$250 range. From my experience it's never been worth it to invest anymore than this into any video card as the performance gains are never really worth the expenditure. If I'm going to "over spend" I'd be much more likely to do it on the CPU. Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons

I don't usually spend this much on graphics cards, I traditionally have bought in the $200-$300 range but the last couple of times I was ready to buy the performance I wanted was only available in the $500+ range :(
May 31, 201313 yr I built this 2600k with a 560Ti....a year later my friend build a 2700k with a 660 (he averages only 5fps more than my machine)...can you imagine if he built it when the 2700 and 660 were just released into the market?....not worth it unless for some odd reason you absolutely need to have the latest/greatest today instead of tomorrow. Latest and greatest certainly aren't for everyone nor are they wallet-friendly but yeah, if you want the best quality you have to pay for it.
May 31, 201313 yr ...it's not about the quality, it's about the timing. You can have the same card & quality 2 years from now and it'll give you the same 10fps gain in fsx as it does today only you'll save maybe $300. Everyone is different. For me, gaining maybe 10fps TODAY instead of TOMORROW just isnt worth $500...then again, I live on a budget  . Now...if it DOUBLED my fps I'd probably be willing to say the hell with the budget, lol. Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons

Or you can spend the same amount 2 years from now and have even more performance/quality. See how that works?
May 31, 201313 yr Sorry, didn't mean to offend. I'll shut my big mouth now. Enjoy the new toy...looks lean & mean! Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons
May 31, 201313 yr I'm surprised by the above poster not getting much difference from 580 GTX to 680. Still, I'm looking at powering three monitors so the graphics card makes a difference to me. Of course thats not everybodies objective but its steering my towards the 780. The results on the 770 look very good. Essentially a 680 but a touch faster. I'd go for that but think I need more than the 2GB of RAM it comes with... Kael Oswald 9950X3D/ 64GB DDR5 6200 @ CL30 / Custom Water Loop / RTX 5090 / 3 x 48" LG C4 OLEDs

The system : ASUS P8z68 Deluxe - Gen3, Core i7 2700k at 4,3 GHz, 16 GB DDR3 1600, EVGA GTX 680. Dell U2410 1920X1200. NVI with AA 8S, 4X Supersampling, 16 AF. Best. Miquel.

I agree. 2GB of RAM is really small considering how inexpensive VRAM is these days. I was hoping for more VRAM. X-Plane 10 laps it up! Maybe they'll release a 4GB version soon.
June 6, 201313 yr I went ahead about got a 780 GTX anyway...its running my three 27" monitors wonderfully. Just need to figure out some good AA settings and I'll be away! Kael Oswald 9950X3D/ 64GB DDR5 6200 @ CL30 / Custom Water Loop / RTX 5090 / 3 x 48" LG C4 OLEDs
