Virtavia products are on sale at SimMarket - at half price or even less. If you don't have their CH53A Stallion or their A6 Intruder you are missing out on some outstanding and unique addons. I would also recommend their F105 Thud and although I don't have it (yet) I have heard great things about the C17. But there are loads of choices so check them out

Humm. I see they have a B-36 Peacemaker. Has anyone tried it? Very interesting aircraft. Six (6) radial engines which faced rearward and four (4) jet engines. One of my uncles served as a loadmaster on a B-36 for a few years. The one he served on was converted for use as a mid-air refueler. Prior to that it was in a nuclear readiness fleet. They often flew missions where they carried an A-bomb or a dummy and the crew did not know which. He later was on one of the initial teams that took the C5 transport aloft.

The last B-36 I was saw was static on the flight line at Chanute AFB in Rantoul, Illinois, when I was stationed there for Air Force weather school in 1970 and 1971. I toured a museum a couple of years ago at that now closed base and did not see the B-36 among the remaining aircraft on display.

There is a B36 being restored at the museum attached to Davis-Montham in Arizona - I saw it two years ago. I don't know how much progress they have since made but it was complete enough that they were able to tow it in and out of a hangar. I truly don't know how good the Virtavia B36 is. But at the sale price, it's probably worth a try...

Shalom and greetings all my pals,,

I always want C-17 Globemaster but my question to all of you is that is Virtavia C-17 Globemaster really good or should I wait for Area 51 to offer the same plane on sale?

I look at avsim and flightsim only to be surprised that there are more repaints for Area 51 C-17 than there are for Virtavia C-17. Anybody know why or is search function bit tricky and not working well?

My guess is that the Virtavia is the better one, but I have no way of really knowing. Hope someone can give you a more objective answer

I did buy it, but have not installed it yet.  May do so today since its raining here. Found a story online that the B36 you refer to at Davis-Montham may have come there from the former Kelly AFB in San Antonio.  Kelly is now called the Lackland Annex.  I found a photo online of the B36 that was on static display at Chanute AFB in the 60s and 70s.

 

I also learned yesterday from my dad that my uncle was a chief flight engineer on the B36 and cross trained to load master when he was placed on a C5 crew.  He retired as a Chief Senior Master Sergeant.
