It's lovely. There's main panel lighting, overhead lighting, center pedestal lighting, circuit breaker lighting, map light next to you, storm and dome lighting as well.

Not to mention adjustable too, all the dimmer switches work properly, not just on and off. And you can set DIM/BRT for the advisory lights

What add-ons is it struggling with these days?  I've been following the threads more loosely and haven't kept up.  Mostly, I'm interested in Accufeel, EZDoc,  (if I have to turn off DHM that's just fine), FSUIPC, LINDA (I have the VRInsight panel).

I use it with Accufeel, and EZDoc, both work fine, also I've used the FSUIPC Mouse Macro function to map a few functions like the GoAround button on the throttle to key combos which I then translate to a single key press on my Logitech G13. I've got the original MCP combo, and using basic MSFS functionality I can change the Course Bar, Speed,Heading, Altitude on the PFD. I can't use the Nav and Coms functions to change them in the Cockpit, although the freqs selected in the cockpit are faithfully displayed on the MCP. So I can check the Nav Aid ident by switching to DME mode, if it has a DME, as most ILS's do.

If I knew what LINDA was about, I'm sure I could do more!

I edge closer to getting it.  I know some folks are working on the LINDA thing.

What is SETI ?

Great addon, very well simulated and full detail of the systems.  Flies very nicely and the sounds are fantastic.  Only issue I have is that the glass panels on the VC are small and sometimes hard to read.  I think this is just a function of the normal aircraft layout but I have to move my eyepoint very close or undock the panels to read things clearly.  I find the panels on the NGX for example easier on the eyes.  Again I think this is not a programming thing but more a function of how the real aircraft is layed out and what happens when it all gets transitioned to a PC sim.  Bottom line is you can't go wrong with this aircraft, money well spent.

Wow thanks for these additions. Will buy it today :)

For the readiness: have you tried supersampling as antialiasing method? It'll work in DX9 Mode only but I do not want to miss that mode again! You have to enable it within graphics menu. You haven't seen the Display's so sharp. I'll present a shoot today in the evening (maybe with my new dash8 then). :)

Kind regards,

Anyone using this bird with Windows 8, and if so- any issues?

I'm getting confused, because we are getting mixed signals.  What functions of Ezdoc work with the Q400, and which parts don't?  I assume that viewpoint switching works.  But what about RND (random head movement), DHM (dynamic head movement), and CR (landing bump effects)?  Likewise with Accufeel...

Also, I asked the question about interaction of the Weather Radar with Active Sky, operating in Direct Weather Control mode.  DWC uses something called global weather, and even though individual station data is supposedly still written, it still creates complications for FSX internal weather processing, such that things like built in FSX ATIS do not function.  So does the weather radar on the Q400 work normally with Active Sky DWC, or not?

My understanding is that in order to create the FM and systems as discussed here, that the code had to be developed outside of FSX. That potentially can cause issues with other addons- which is why Tabs at PMDG stated on their forums that while they did some programming outside of FSX, it was limited as they wished to maintain compatibility with other addons.... I'm not expert but that was what I read...

Thanks.  I think I will have to pass on this though, I am still having trouble with the tiller hooked up to my spoiler axis.....translating up/down to left right is not as easy as it looks.

DWC stands for DirectWindControl. No meaning why it should interfere with the product?

ActiveSky set's weather globally and not by station. Wind is injected and smoothed via FSUIPC.

More advanced weather programs such as Opus and much more FSGlobalRealWeather injects weather to the stations within FSX AND is using a form of DWC. Whereas FSGlobalRealWeather does it weather calculations on their servers and not on clientside as this weather interpolation is much tooo complex to be calculated on your fsx pc. Also ActiveSky does only have unreal cirrus clouds which is pretty terrible.

DWC stands for Direct Weather Control, not to quibble. Because it is injecting weather globally, is this going to be a problem for the Q400 Weather Radar? The question was asked by somebody even prior to the Q400's release, but it has yet to be answered satisfactorily. I think the issue about which weather program is better or more advanced, Opus or Active Sky, is probably best left to another forum, but it is not at all clear to me that Opus is clearly superior or wouldn't come with it's own set of compromises and peculiarities. I am an Active Sky user, with no current plans to switch, so for now, my question is whether or not the Q400 radar will work effectively with Active Sky DWC.

Also, and I know there is another topic about it on this forum, is the issue of 3rd party Dynamic and Random Head Movement be it from either Opus or Ezdok. From my perspective, having a dynamic head has become a critical piece of immersion, and I would severely miss it if an airplane were not compatible with it, so I'm trying to get a picture of the limitations I will have to face before I purchase the Q400.

Yes, no.
