FSDT/KLAS airport objects popping in/out

Recommended Posts

Hi-

i've done a bit of research on this topic already and still haven't really got an answer yet. As I'm taxiing into a parking space, luggage carts, cargo containers, parts of the jetway and cars in the upper lot a distance back start to fill in with a comensurate pause which is annoying as hell. i've set AntiPopup to 20 which should well cover the distance I'm describing here.

Is there a way to load all of this small, close airport stuff all at once?

Yes, I've read Umberto's comments on this and how this had to be done in order to keep frame rates down, but still haven't found a way to fix it.

Thanks for any suggestions,

Mark

He answered it then. They designed the scenery that way.

do you have widescreen enabled in your fsx.cfg file? If not set it as true/1 and then open FSX and zoom in a notch or two until it looks like it did w/o widescreen enabled. That should help with the LOD radius.

That's my only criticism of FSDT. I hope that these pop ups are eliminated in a future update. Just enable the sceneries please!

I found zooming in to .50 or something like that eliminates to popping. I think they did it to increase frame rates.

I wonder how much worse performance would be at some of the larger FSDT hubs if they were designed to load all objects once you cross the 10 mile scenery threshold loading distance as you suggest?

With anti pop up at 30, I still have very good fps. High AI is more of a performance hog.

Good question. Too bad Umberto doesn't supply the means to at least try. OR, the performance would be so bad that the airport would be unuseable. Just a guess.
