CLOSE BLUR HELP!! :-(

Recommended Posts

Hello simmers,I have this blur that's very close to the aircraft, but cannot really solve it. I tried all imaginable settings in FS9.CFG file, current settings are:TERRAIN_ERROR_FACTOR=70.000000TERRAIN_MIN_DEM_AREA=10.000000TERRAIN_MAX_DEM_AREA=100.000000TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=21TERRAIN_TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=8TERRAIN_AUTOGEN_DENSITY=3TERRAIN_USE_GRADIENT_MAP=1TERRAIN_EXTENDED_TEXTURES=1TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=9.500000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=4.500000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=4I'm posting the link to the picture on my own server, since the AVSIM doesn't like high res pictures, and I need high resolution pic that you can see what's the problem is!http://www.Word Not Allowed.dawolf.at/Blur.jpgCould someone possibly post a picture that doesn't have this effect?? I'd really like to get rid of this :)

Hi Word Not Allowed,1) Try increasing the anisotropic filtering to its maximum (graphic card)2) check that you have TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=300 or 400 (fs9.cfg)3) decrease the visibility to 30 nm (FS)4) limit the fps to 30 (FS)let us know if it helpedDavid

Word Not Allowed,I was playing with the AGP aperture quite a bit and it did help with the blurries you describe. Depending on the graphics card you have, try different settings, from lowest all the way to 512Mb and see what happens. I have a Radeon 9600XT and unfortunately, I can't push my AGP aperture to 256 or 512Mb because there are issues with the secondary monitor which I use. During my testing I noticed stutters and no blurries at certain settings and vice versa at others. So the trick is to find the sweet spot, a compromise you can live with. In one sentence, changing AGP aperture did affect the dynamic blurries on my machine. :)Regards,Jurehttp://www.globecargo.org/images/VAA_Captain.jpg

Hi,I have the same problem. I tried everything (modify CFG file; AGP aperture changes, change settings in MSFS etc.), but I can't manage this either.. When I look down from the cockpit I always seem to be a bit drunk. Although, drinking may help you to accept?Herman

Thanks for the suggestion, I tried setting AGP Aperture Size to 64, 128 and 256. None of those did get rid of those close blurred textures.Herman, :-lolI thought there must be a way to get rid of this. As I asked before, could SOMEONE who doesn't have this effect post a screenshot???Thanks!

Do you have a roads or shorelines addon installed there? Adding a lot of VTP lines can cause this effect due to consumption of texture memory. Try unchecking extended textures...Best,sg

Hi Scott,No, that was area with absolutely no addons installed. Apart from that, my card has 128mb RAM on it AND I got 1gig of DDR. So I think memory shouldn't be a problem...Tried also unchecking extended textures. No effect on this... :(Btw. Scott, why don't you post a screenshot not having this effect?

>Scott, why don't you post a screenshot not having this effect?First, because I frequently get the effect you describe. I see it most often in areas with a lot or roads, streams, coasts, and autogen.Second, here:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=searchAgain, no roads to be seen, very sharp terrain texture...Best,sg

Hi Word Not Allowed,Here's a link to an updated FS9 tweak document I'm working on that may be of some help. It will help if you try the majority of the fixes. Applying only one or two may not necessarily help all too much: http://www.members.shaw.ca/madamo/fs9_settings.htmSeeing as you have an ATI based video card, I would HIGHLY suggest you upgrade your drivers to the most recent Omega Radeon Drivers (2.5.90). They're considered BETA however, since I installed them on my system, the image quality has been excellent. Here's the link to Omega's site:http://www.omegadrivers.net/ati/win2k_xp.phpHere's a pic showing my terrain. Since I started tweaking my system as described in the linked document, my ground scenery has always been very crisp. In areas where the system is competing with AI, Mesh, add-on scenery and weather (especially clouds) there are times when the ground textures will blurr but not for extended periods of time.http://www.members.shaw.ca/madamo/CDN_Regional.JPGAnother thing to be consious of is when you switch to spot view with an aircraft that is "painted" with true 32-bit textures, it can sometimes take a few minutes to load the ground textures. Not saying this is your problem in this case but it may be a possibility. Do the textures ever crisp up when you just sit in spot view? This should keep you busy for a while :-)Let us know if any of this helped!Mike http://www.members.shaw.ca/madamo/ffpc.jpg

Mike, I notice that you're flying relatively low.Could you please do me a simple favor, and load this flight? And then post a screenshot (preferrably also some higher res, so that one can see what it's about). I can see in this situation two distinct lines where blur starts. One pretty close and one again further away again, where blur gets worse.Thanks!http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/94300.zipBTW. I did try Omega stuff and different settings. Nothing better, just stuttering got worse. :(

Mike Just read thru your interesting document and made some adjustments to my FS9.cfg which have indeed produced an improvement in the crispness etc of the display. However - as I asked in another thread on here - can you -or anyone else perhaps post a basic explanation of just what some of these settings actually do -mainly the Terrain batch I'm interested in ................{TERRAIN}TERRAIN_ERROR_FACTOR=100.000000TERRAIN_MIN_DEM_AREA=10.000000TERRAIN_MAX_DEM_AREA=200.000000TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=21 (20- this one I understand OK)TERRAIN_TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=8TERRAIN_AUTOGEN_DENSITY=5TERRAIN_USE_GRADIENT_MAP=1TERRAIN_EXTENDED_TEXTURES=1TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=9.900000 (0.000000)TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=8.000000 (0.000000) TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=4 (1307992) I ve altered mine to match those above from your document. my previous settings are those in (brackets) beside yours.Dave

Dave,I have a small zip file (50kb) attached which may help explain these values.TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=9.900000 (0.000000)TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=8.000000 (0.000000) TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=4 (1307992)unzip outside of your Fsim install.I originally made it last year in response to this thread.http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=searchhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/94319.zipKurt M

Hi, Upgrade your chipset driver Intel 875 Chipset from intel and set your agp aperture to 64mb or 128MB.Only use aircraft that's use DXT format texture, any others will take your ressource memory cards for nothing.http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df...?ProductID=1043http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df...16&DwnldID=7484ThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs

Hi Chris,Thanks for the suggestion, I'm just doing it, will then test today or tomorrow...Although, no much choice on aircraft. I fly mainly PMDG. And I can only hope it's format is DXT. (I think it is.)
