radar contact error message

Hi my name is dave and i  am new to this forum and i hope you cam help . I have just purchased and installed radar contact with no problems ! but when I get to the part were it "rebuilds scenery db" after typing in the fs path , I keep getting this error message ...."runtime error 75 path/file access error "

Welcome to RC.

 

Let me guess that your FS application is under a typical program files folder and you are using VISTA, Win 7, or maybe Win 8. These applications under a program files hierarchy are specially protected by Windows. To give this version of RC a program level (not user level access) you need to set up a shortcut to RCv4.exe, click properties, and select Run As Admin. RC will need that to execute makerwys.exe in your FS folder and copy files back to its own data folder and also toget to your documents folder as well for your .pln, .flt, and .wx files. It also may help to have yourself in the admin group.

 

Also check your path to FS that you enter. Typically it looks like "c:\program files\microsoft games\flight simulator 9" but adjust that for FSX and your program files folder according to your version of Windows.

 

You also need to update from the versions installed from the RC distribution fsuipc from:

and then in your FS folder makerwys.exe from:

After installing the new makerwys.exe start RC and do the scenery rebuild once more.

 

One additional step is to make sure that any security application you have bypasses RC (declare it as excluded or safe) so it can frequently access your FS application and folder. See this pinned topic:

thanks that problem is fixed thank you , But i do have another one .

i file a flight plan with fsnav and it appears in radar contact ok , but when flying the said plan , the controler keeps telling me i am drifting of planned route even though i am shown on fsnav as being on route ?

any ideas on how to fix this please .appolo

maybe you didn't cross a waypoint correctly and rc4 is still behind with those waypoint!!!!

If so then use the "direct to" function in rc4

In the status area of the in-flight window displayed by RC your next waypoint is displayed. If you think you have properly crossed a waypoint the display should change with the next waypoint accordingly change if you received credit. I believe the heading to the next waypoint as RC expects it is also shown. Compare that to your instrument heading exclusive of any wind correction. A GPS is a good check of that.

 

On very long legs especially in FS9 you might encounter an error as 3D geometry is not used for calculation of the course by RC to my knowledge. FSX respects a spherical surface whereas FS9 uses an adjusted flat surface.

 

RC uses a +/- 15 degree heading tolerance by default. If desired you can test increasing that tolerance not much beyond 30 degrees.

 

Try comparing a GPS track against the fsnav moving map projected track and the heading displayed in the RC window.
