FTX Global Who is Gonna Buy!

Featured Replies

FS Global is mesh, ie the elevation like the shape of mountains etc while FTX Global is textures like the "paint" of the mountains just the same as GEX which will be replaced by FTX Global if you install it.

I see, so will FS Global Ultimate compliment and work together with FTX Global then?

I believe now in ftx global when you turn on night lightning, it remains on even during the day. There is no transition point where the lights turn on at a certain time. That's how I understood it from JVs posts.

Ok, here I go again. If you wanna have night lightning in Orbx scenery you don't have to do anything...Ok.

If you wanna get a little better performance, you can click on the icon that says FTX Day wich will turn off all Orbx lightning....and if you wanna turn it on again just click on the other icon that is called FTX Night.

Comes in handy when flying in daytime as you don't see the lights at day so turning them off will give a little more FPS. My computer can handle the lights so I never turn them off, and don't have too think a bout wether I forgot to turn the lights on and off before loading a flight...You see? or did I confuse you even more :P

Or maybe I misunderstood what you ment about lightning in your post?

Im 50/50 atm. I own FTX EU which i cant use without blurries and switching regions which is a no no flying for a VA and using their tracking system but, if FTX Global adresses this issue then im in. FSX needs an overhaul in the textures department and the screenies and vids look impressive, i just hope the switching malarkey will be a thing of the past.

Yes, maybe my explanation was rather poor ^_^ , but that's exactly how it works now with the FTX regions also.

So if not experiencing performance issues with the lights, It's an set and forget setting...or maybe I'm wrong  , I need to check it out I rarely fly at night..

You guys are now starting to confuse me about those damn lights

You should take a look here (post #84):

I did a test with the regions. When I have night ligthning on I see ligthning at night but not at day time, but the light poles are still there..I can't imagine it would be any different with FTX Global...

Nice one. Thank's for that

I don't know if that thread gave all the answers, but you have to be aware of that the Autogen switching will still be needed to get the correct autogen in the different regions.

Here is a thread that explains this issue some more http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/59461-ftx-global/

Quote from JV:

"Sorry to burst your bubbles but we can't get rid of the switcher completely. You will be able to fly between FTX regions without any issues but we cannot provide a single set of autogen building and tree textures for the whole world without a major re-engineering of all our autogen for all regions. So initially we will use FTX Central to let you choose which autogen set you want to see when you land.

This does not impact trans-ocean or trans-region flights, they will work fine without needing to exit the sim, but you may see some slight autogen texture oddities.

Holger and I have discussed a potential future project to re-do all our autogen from AU onwards but that is a massive undertaking. We learnt a lot about making custom autogen about 3-4 years after we made FTX AU and you see a lot of this in NZ and EU, but to go back to retrospectively change it for NA and AU is a huge project, something we just don't have budget for given our current revenues."

Did you ever come up with a way to reduce the blurries in FTX regions? I get 0 blurries without FTX enabled but as soon as it's turned on I get them within minutes. I have tried with different settings and frame rate limiters but nothing seems to stop them completely unless I fly something extremely slow like the trike.

No Rich, i simply cannot have EU active, if i do i have major blurrie problems. I've had a fiddle myself but no joy thats why im hoping global will sort this coz EU is very nice but unfortunatly not on my hdd due to the switching and blurrie thing.

@Kaboki..Thanks for the link, i'll have a read up on that

After buying UK + Wales and not being able to use them because of the way they corrupt outside regions (even their own FTX regions), I have to pass on this one.

BTW. I have tried getting support on this issue since February, but no luck. All I know that FTX Global _might_ fix these problems eventually, but not in the initial release.

Thats not good, might fix and not in the initial release are my 2 worst nightmares. I'll have to wait until "is fixed" before i lay out the cash.

This is something FTX Global is gonna fix, except the autogen issue where the switch will still be needed...

I forgot to mention, that my problems are terrain/mesh related. When I get home, I will quote a post where JV mentions that the FTXG initial release will be only textures and nothing related to mesh/(some lookup thing) that is causing all kinds of weird things with terrain.
