Look at the big picture here, if a company (X) making sceneries is not on board with what Orbx is doing you MAY have a compatibility problems if you have sceneries from that company (x), another word, you will be limited to Orbx and who ever is onboard with them to "kinda" make sure all your sceneries add on work in harmony with theirs,...I may be wrong, can you correct me on that.

Compitabity with Orbx is something FTX Global is gonna change and that is what I like the most about this new "tech"...Read the link I posted, there are some really intresting things that going to happen...

Those screenshots are really beautiful!

What mesh, landclass and water are you using?

Good too see GEX is stepping up, still think Orbx textures look better, though(Personal opinion)

That's whats great about compition, makes everyone step up their game to keep up B)

I've read the link, there is no problems at all with Orbx compatibility if you stay in their circle, that include other scenery developers, as I said, if you have other sceneries you like and the developer choose not to be in the Orbx circle you MAY have a compatibility problem, do I hear monopoly?

Thanks! Mesh = FSGenesis, Landclass is UTX and water is default

It's not staying in their circle, It's the issue with custom autogen and that doesn't just happen with Orbx. E.g try to get France VFR and ES sceneries coexist. Atleast Orbx says they will try to merge all that autogen with their files as they have done with Skiathos, Mikonos, ES sceneries...Germany VFR..

So it would simply be up to the others to make that happen with their autogen files too, as Orbx said they be happy to do that.

How is that just in the circle, It's in everyones intrest that sceneries can coexist even for Orbx..Haven't seen the others trying to make the same effort to make things work..

To make your screenshots look even better I suggest using the freeware available for Norway instead of UTX and FSgenesis, The freeware landclass is so much better B)

Thanks, but GEX V2.30 has been readily available for quite some months now

That's a great idea, do you have some links on the AVSIM File Library server?

Don't think they are in the Avsim Library, not sure though, but you can get it here http://www.flightsim.no/fsno/filbibliotek/fsx/scenery/europa/norge.html

The files you need are "Airports of Norway", "Norske Broer" , "Norway Scenic X", "Norway mesh for FS9", and "NGX_II". Use the manual for "NGX_II" to install "Norway Scenic X" as NGX_II only need parts of it...

Allthough the manual is unfortunetly in Norwegian, but google translate may help...

With FTX Global coming up or using GEX V2, I think the freeware makers of Norway should make the manual in English, that way it would be easier for everyone to use it...

Edit: BTW I have the old version of GEX for Europe, do I need to pay for an Upgrade. Could be nice to use while I'll wait for Global.

FTX Global is actually a good thing for other devs too as many Orbx customers may start to look into other sceneries to fit into Global. I have already purchased a lot of scenerys that I  normallly would not have bought if it wasn't for FTX Global. So it's a win win situation... It can be seen already at the threads in the Orbx forum where People have started too look for mesh and other lanclass that would make Global better...

Thanks for the links... No the update is free, use the old interface to restore the textures made on backup then uninstall, download and install GEX V2.30 using the re-install option with your key purchased for GEX EU v1 then from within the interface click enable for the regions you own...

It is staying in their circle, Orbx sceneries do not coexist with some others, that is why you have to switch between FSX and FTX....right? Don't get me wrong here as I always said that Orbx sceneries are good BUT why switching from FSX to FTX if they can make THEIR sceneries compatible with others.....just think further ahead a little and you will see are dividing that can become, after installing FTX Global you MAY have other problems with your other already installed sceneries....now what, will you have to make sure that you buy sceneries already approved to work with FTX Global, what if the scenery you would love to buy from another developer is not...tough?

if they can make THEIR sceneries compatible with others..

Actually,  I do not think that ORBX could make their sceneries compatible with every other developers' products, and at the same time create their products to the quality they have achieved.  I believe that what ORBX are doing is working within the constraints that FSX imposes on the way autogen files are created and saved within FSX, and   this is what limits them.  I don't think that it is reasonable to ask a developer who are creating their product with their specific quality and features, to at the same time tie their hands behind their backs to make themselves compatible with all of their competitors.

I don't know if ORBX are seeking a monopoly, but from what I have seen they are clearly the market leader in terms of innovative high quality sceneries, and  I do not have a problem with that.  We will be able to vote with our pocketbooks..  If we don't like ORBX's products with the constraints they impose with some of the other developers, then we can refuse to buy from them and stick with the other companies and their products. (However, keep in mind, that many of these products are also incompatible with other companies' sceneries, so I am not sure you will ever be able to get away from this constraint.)

My system specs: Intel [email protected] - 5.2 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, 32GB  DDR4  RAMNoctua NH-D15 CPU Cooler,1TB Seagate SSD, 4TB Seagate HD, Windows 10, Asus 32 inch monitor, Saitek Yoke, Throttle Quadrant, Rudder Pedals and Trim Wheel     Sims: MSFS2020      Preferred Aircraft  Black Square Bonanza, and Baron, A2A Comanche, PMDG DC-6, Red Wing L1049

It is staying in their circle, Orbx sceneries do not coexist with some others, that is why you have to switch between FSX and FTX....right?

I don't think you actually read all the info in in that link.

Yes, as it is today you need to switch. This something they are working on, getting rid of that inconvinent switch and they have come far. Right now it's just the autogen switch left....but you will be able to fly from e.g. NA to EU or too other sceneries without to much trouble, only thing is that you will get the autogen from the region you have enabled in the FTX Central....(and they have promised too rework the autogen so this also will be solved allthough it will take some time too do that)

JV also said that most other sceneries will work as long as they don't have any custom autogen. Wich they also can solve if the other devs are willing too....So I'm not expecting to much impact  allthough there might be some sceneries I have to let go.

But that has also happend with other devs compitability with eachother e.g France VFR and ES, I ditched France VFR in favour of ES because ES has been merged with the Orbx autogen, 29 palms and Aerosoft so that choice was easy for me.

If you have seen the previews they actually has shown some of these sceneries from other devs and how they will fit into Global.

And seing that companies like 29 palms, Aerosoft, and ES starting to work "together" is very good, something all FSX devs should have done along time ago because that will solve alot of these compitability issues and are very good news for all FSX users.
