Installed SP2 & FS9.1 - now look!!!!

Recommended Posts

I made a clean install of both Windows XP plus SP2, then FS9 and the update to 9.1. I wish I'd left well alone. I have nothing else installed on this partition, just Windows & FS9.1 and associated programmes. The programme seems to use far more RAM than before - whatever the reason aircraft and scenery don't draw properly any more. I've posted two screenshots at:IMAGES REMOVED - TOO LARGEThe latter shows AI traffic (Ultimate Traffic). Things do suddenly snap into focus, but several minutes into the flight. I'm going to try different graphics drivers (ATI Radeon 9800 Pro) but if anyone has any suggestions in the meantime, they'd be very welcome!Martin

Possibly you need to reinstall the chipset drivers as well as the gc drivers.Allcott

Thanks. I've just installed the latest ATI drivers - getting used to the new 'Catalyst Control Center' .... If I still get such awful textures I'll go for the chip driver next. If that fails I shall wipe the lot, XP and all, and go back to no Service Pack and no FS9.1 patch - I had a pretty good setup before. Can't think why I wiped it now!!!Martin

I know this may seem like something you didn't overlook but did you reset all your graphic functions in FS9 after the clean install. esp scenery detail and aircraft detail sections.Just a thought.Ronson2k

Yes, I did. I downloaded new drivers for the ATI card and things seem to be much better - scenery is nice and crisp again. I still sometimes get very blurred textures on AI (Ultimate Traffic) aircraft though - screenshots removed from this post, for anyone interested, are at : http://martinlest.myphotoalbum.com/view_ph...scenery_problemhttp://martinlest.myphotoalbum.com/view_ph...1&id=UT_ProblemPressing the 'alt' key and then clicking the screen seems to clear this - it's only happened a couple of times so I am not sure what the problem is. When I start up FS9 I have over 800MB of free RAM, so I don't think it's memory.Martin S.

If you don't install the motherboard controller chip drivers above the WinXP default drivers, your system will not operate properly for gaming. The usually vendors for motherboard controller chips are Intel, VIA, SiS, AMD, ALi, NForce. It is very important to stay current with this drivers.W. Sieffert
