Two bridges... How to...?

Recommended Posts

Guys,

one of the things I really know almost nothing about is scenery editing / creation in X-Plane10.

Well, i got the great OSM+Autogen Europe file from SimHeaven, which includes a great Lisboa :-) but there is an even better, although a bit outdated, version of Lisbon scenery that includes the two bridges (our Tejo suspension  bridge that looks like a smaller Golden Gate, and the Vasco da Gama bridge).

Well, when I use this scenery on top of the default OSM I see two bridges near each of the original bridges, one created by OSM (Autogen?) and the other ( graphically depicting the real thing ) that overlap.

How do I get rid of the OSM/Autogen generated bridges?

First make sure that Tejo Suspension bridge scenery is listed before your OSM scenery packs in your scenery_pack.ini.

Next you will need to open up the Tejo suspension bridge scenery in WED and create an exclusion zone set it to removes facades. To create an exclusion zone click on the red X from the menu icons and check Objects and Facades in the dialogue box in the upper-left.

Here is screenshot to kinda show where the pertinent buttons are:

When you are done Save and Export Scenery Pack

Sorry I just rethought about this and the exclusion option you need is to remove Roads Networks. I forgot that OSM2XP generated scenery does not create roads, it just overlays buildings (facades).

... drove up to LA  today and back ... the 405 ... always bad traffic ...the mind needs time to heal...

Ok!  That's perfectly on time... I won't be able to use Wed until later tonight :-)

Carrotroot, it worked as advertised :-)

Now I have my two Lisbon bridges even more realistic :-)  Thank you!

I am really enjoying X-Plane's scenery, OSM and autogen, as well as the Z17 zones I am getting ( slowly... )...
