XPX demo & payware a/c

Curiosity has finally got to me and I'm downloading the demo now. Somewhere I believe I read that add on a/c do work in the demo. So rather than use a (what tend to be) less than ideal default plane, what would you recommend for a GA type to get a proper feel for it? I'd probably prefer a C152/172 since I have rw time in them, but any single GA would do.

Hi Mike,

 

The Carenado 152 and 172 are a really good starting point. They've been updated and function in the 64 bit environment. There is also a freeware add-on with a wide 2D panel that is quite remarkable . You're certainly more qualified than I am to assess this aircraft, as you've actually flown the real thing. A member here, jcomm, is quite knowledgeable when it comes to adjusting the flight model in Planemaker. I'm certain if you find discrepancies with your experience of the aircraft, he could help you tweak it to your satisfaction. :smile:

Just in case you are not impressed with the Seattle KSEA area starting location in the demo (I know I wasn't here's a link to the freeware New Zealand scenery showing whats truly possible in X-plane. My suggestion would be to get a Carenado GA aircraft, the full-copy of X-plane, and download this freeware and enjoy some low-and-slow flight simulation bliss.

Goo advice, seconded. Since buying the full version a few weeks back with Carenado's Centurion, I've spent 90% of the time in NZ. Apart from the lazy urban autogen flying in Carenado's realistic VC with shadows moving around over such beautiful scenery is AMAZING. Best simming experience I've ever had and worth every penny.

Another excellent resource is Zones Photo for X-plane. They have free downloads for thousands of square miles of high quality orthophoto scenery for much of Europe and some small island in the Atlantic.
