The importance of BIOS/UEFI update on X79

Featured Replies

I've finally come around to build my X79 system and I quickly thought there was more stutters compared to my old P55 based system even thou the FPS was higher. Analyzing a few FRAPS recordings confirmed my suspicions. I tried a few things until I found the culprit. The BIOS/UEFI.

My motherboard is an Asrock Extreme4 and it came installed with the 1.80 BIOS. It was update nr 6 dated 5 months from the launch BIOS.

I upgraded to the latest 3.00 BIOS and the stutters improved a lot.

I just want to get it out there that the BIOS/UEFI is capable of causing noticible stutters, so keep it updated.
