I've got a 1TB external drive which is half-filled with addons just for FSX. On my internal drive which is also 1TB, I have X-Plane, and the library is going, already upto 100GB.

I'm sticking just to the zl16 scenery, as I tried zl17 for my hometown, but really didn't see the benefit of it (apart from slower loading). I'm curious to what others think, have you noticed a difference? Whichever way you look at it, photo scenery looks bad at low altitudes anyway, and it's necessary to get up to about 1500-2000ft before it begins looking realistic.

I do also have a 1tb external to backup all my addons over the years + games when they came as an installer... nowadays all is just downloaded from steam or other such services :P

I got couple parts of austria and switzerland in zl17, but I think i'll switch it to zl16 to save space. Indeed ZL17 is not worth it for me download speed vs. better quality. I don't have any problems with performance tho. :P

I really have to ask cuz I haven't nothing worth doing while downloading all of this ZL16 / 17 files :-/

Bob, these pictures should show you how much of the forested area there is between the airport and the Bay of Fundy shown in some shots....

If yours are like this....at VERY HIGH rez settings, then you are there....if not..there is a problem at your end...

Oh, by the way...pictures DO NOT even begin to show what is truly on the screen as in detail. Now I know why I don't normally post them...it is just the way it is...  I think that somehow the AVSIM engine compresses them, to less clearness and detail as when seen in the non-uploaded, original pic.  The airport in view, is Moncton, from where I took off.... In one shot, you see the Tidal Basin mouth of the river that leads out from Moncton and empties into the Bay of Fundy. Another shot shows the Bay of Fundy proper...well, a little part of the Bay and shoreline, lol.

Hello,

Could you tell which Beechcraft 200 model is used in the shots?

Thanks in advance

Fantastic European buildings!  Makes a massive difference.

Thanks for all your hard work!!

Hello all,

I've been enjoying this europe OSM+autogen for a little while now but encountered a problem when at EGBB, Birmingham.

When I re locate to this airport, Xplane hangs and Windows gives a warning I'm low on memory and advises to close all programs.

I have an i7 3770, GTX 670 2Gb and 8Gb of system ram. Even setting the graphics to the default, lowest settings results in the same out of memory issue.

Previously I have been using this add on with all scenery pretty much maxed around Manchester and Liverpool with good results.

The problem is definately something with OSM around the Birmingham area and I'm wondering if any of you know a fix?

Thanks

Stu

Default lowest settings causes an oom? Not at home atm so can't test, but one observation from your settings in the screenshot is a lot of your 'stuff to draw' settings are high. You could roll all of them back a couple of notches in good osm data areas and still get a plausibly busy environment.

I was on the way to Gatwick yesterday and noticed many buildings in the Channel of England. once landed, the apron was full of OSM buildings. A local problem or some kind of scenery shift? I have deinstalled OSM Europe and everything was back to normal. Still enjoy the European library objects, great work.

Check your scenery order. If the OSM scenery is below the photoscenery, then it doesn't work correctly. I had a similar problem with buildings in the sea, and this resolved it for me.

Seems more that it is a little problem in the Gatwick scenery above, there is an exclusion for facades missing. You can add this by WED or OE.

Airport buildings are generated, if they are not tagged with hangar or airport in OSM. Many scenery designer are not aware of adding facades exclusions, especially if they don't have osm sceneries installed.

Many thanks for your help guys. I don't use any photosceneries yet. The Gatwick scenery is default. One of these Aerosoft added to XP. I'll check all my airport add ons for exclusions.

Does the OSM scenery not work with XP default scenery? It was layered on top of my airport add ons.

Since OSM data includes also the airport buildings, but they are not tagged as such, the OSM data is exported into xplane so you see them on the apron. This can be excluded with quick and easy fix in WED or overlayeditor by making a Exclude on approx those locations and setting the exclude for just facades.

Since addon terminals etc. are objects those wont be excluded if there are any from aerosoft, i haven't checked

If it is a standard airport, it's better to make a copy and rename it and to disable the original airpport in scenery_packs.ini. Then make the changes in the copy.

Otherwise your work could be lost if you run an update of XPX.

Another (maybe better) possibility is to make a special exclusion scenery between osm and standard airports and to add exclusions for all standard airports there, it works then as a filter for osm buildings and other objects, you don't like to see.
