Most Beautiful Aircraft

Recommended Posts

Guest Adverse Yawn

I can't quote one. The thread title made me think of the following:Beech Staggerwing: Nuff said.Spitfire: A cliche and with good reason.Mosquito: Not sure why, maybe it is the history and its capability. One just stops and stares.Boeing 747. Strange think of this aicraft as beautiful, but it looks svelt in action and supremely photogenic.Notable omission:Concorde: Sorry to say this, but when you hear it, it becomes ugly. A hideous noise.

Hi Ian,I agree, for its sleek design and a strange combination of powerful looking and mean looking along with elegance, the Spitfire is truly a beautiful plane... not to mention how big a role it played in the Battle of Britain because of its maneuverability advantage over the German Messerschmidt (spelling?).John

Got to be the Spitfire without any doubt. Planes that come close are the P51 Mustang and the Vans RV8. For an airliner I would say the connie also.

Hi,Don't know much about the different GA aircraft being mentioned here but as far as airliners go I have a great liking for the BAe-146-200 but my clear favourite has to be the McDonnell Douglas MD-80 (esp the 82/83). As an example http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0794443/M/ For military aircraft I think the MiG-29 Fulcrum has very smooth lines... Geoff
