June 26, 201312 yr Moderator I wouldn't worry about this flood, Canada is the worlds second largest land mass and this flood has only flooded less then 1% of it. That rail line does cross the Bow River in Saskatoon. There are Hydro-Electric dams and control dams between Calgary and Saskatoon so not sure if Saskatoon will be at risk or not but I would bet that train passes over the Bow River in Saskatoon with no problem at all. Ah, I see. I was somewhat "tongue in cheek," but truthfully I am wanting to take the Trans-Canada train one of these days. I've always enjoyed rail travel, but unfortunately AMTRAK has managed to completely ruin the experience here in the United States. I suspect that the Canadian passenger service is quite a bit better... B) Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

Might have to start saving early though as they aren't cheap.

The only rail travel I did in Canada was getting a rail pass for one month for Ontario and Quebec for a summer and toured the region. Service was excellent. I've never been on Amtrak but would like to try out the Acela routes in the eastern corridor when the autumn colours have changed. It would be great if there was more Acela type systems in North America, unfortunately the cancelled a proposed high speed route from Chicago to Milwaukee and Minneapolis. You aren't kidding! I'd only be interested in the "Goldleaf Service" (mainly because of the bi-level panoramic view dome), but goodness me, $9,921 + taxes and that doesn't even include all meals... <sigh> I'll just have to abandon this from my bucket list. Fr. I heard about the problems with the Bombardier ones, not good PR for them. Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
