Acceleration installation and CFG file

I have neglected to buy and install acceleration for MS FSX. I have the standard version with sp2. I assume that I can install acceleration?

I have many many add ons and a custom tweaked CFG file like most people do.

Would installing acceleration overwrite these tweaks or effect any of my add ons?

No, you cannot install acceleration over SP2. 

 

You can install FSX+SP1+SP2

 

or

 

FSX+Acceleration. 

 

You need to uninstall SP2 i think, before you install acceleration. BTW, why you want to do that? Acceleration is supposed to be the same thing with FSX+SP2, the only difference is one more default plane, one garmin panel for default cessna and missions. If you don't use this, you don't need acceleration.

 

More then that, i find acceleration very buggy, especially simconnect.

Oh that's very good information! Thankyou! I would have probably screwed my system up. The only reason I was going to do it was for the FA 18 Hornet. But it's really not a big deal. Especially if its buggy.

Hi,<br />Acceleration automatically detects whether SP1 and SP2 are installed and acts accordingly. All the improvements apply equally to the Standard or Deluxe versions of FSX. You need to un-install SP2, You then instal Acceleration to get racing, helo sling/hoist ops, detailed airports, and carrier ops. Then you can land and launch from Aircraft carriers with the F-18's. No bugs here.

Jim, it's been so long from those days, but MS wanted it that way - I believe there were minor code differences and some things with the pertinent SDK's

If I recall correctly, when you install Acceleration, you will be prompted to allow the removal of SP2 automajically .

I think SP2 came out after Accelerattion. I just don't like installing older software over top of newer software, even though Phil Taylor said the Acceleration installer will detect SP1 and SP2, and install accordingly.

Acceleration includes SP2. The free-standing version of SP2 was released after Acceleration because of logistic reasons.

Acceleration does not install SP2, only SP1.  Acceleration/SP2 contain code to make sure individuals who install the freeware SP2 cannot use the product addons in Acceleration.  I have found that having both SP2/Acceleration installed has caused CTD's.

Yes it does, it is well known that Acceleration updates FSX to SP2.

So Acceleration includes code so people that do not have it can't use it? That makes no sense at all. This statement also counteracts your first one.
